The Louvre pyramid is in the main courtyard of the Louvre Palace in Paris and was designed to create as little obstruction to the view of the old Renaissance building as possible, while at the same time allowing a large entrance area to accommodate all the visitors each day
Mona Lisa, Winged Victory and the Venus de Milo are the 3 most visited exhibits in the Louvre.
The Mona Lisa portrait was painted by Italian artist Leonardo da Vinci in 1503. It has been in the Louvre since 1797.
It is the most recognized painting in the world and is protected by bulletproof glass. And armed guards.
The Mona Lisa is 15x30 inches and each time I have seen her I have been surprised that she is smaller than I expect.
The Winged Victory of Samothrace, or the Niké of Samothrace, , dates from the beginning of the 2nd century BC (190 BC). The statue represts the goddess Niké (NEE Kay) whose head and arms are missing,
The Venus de Milo or Aphrodite of Melos is an ancient Greek marble sculpture created in the 2nd century BC. It has been in the Louvre Museum since 1821. It has become one of the most famous works of ancient Greek sculpture in the world.
According to a Google Maps review from July 2023, it would take over 200 days to see all the items exhibited if you view every exhibit for 30 seconds.
This was my granddaughters first trip to Europe and the week she spent in Paris changed her life, as only travel can! She is already dreaming of returning, and so are her parents. They plan to visit London next, I believe.

Mona Lisa is such a master piece by Italian artist. Louvre Palace seems a hub of art. Thanks for sharing an amazing and interesting blog dear ☺️
Wow I did not knew that this pyramid actually holds the Mona Lisa original portrait this is new piece of information for me to consume.
The Pyramid is one of the entries to the museum. You can purchase tickets there The actual museum is that huge Renaissance building. If you stretched out all the content of the Louvre's galleries, the museum would be eight miles long.
It is truly one of the most incredible museums in the world!

What beautiful photos. A dream
Thanks! Paris is a dream for many!
Yes😍😍😍
This just makes me think the Lourve is in dire need of the 'Fear and Loathing' treatment.
Have you read The Da Vinci Code?
The Louvre pyramid is truly beautiful. Just by looking at a picture I can feel the luxury and beauty of this building♥️
Paris is such a beautiful city!
What a beautiful place, I imagine that a week in Paris changed a lot of people's lives, it's a dream to be able to visit it. Beautiful photos
Thank you! You are right, traveling always broadens your horizons and You begin seeing the world through different eyes.
Very beautiful place and beautiful building.
It is beautiful, indeed
enjoy the Olimpics Games
It's getting closer!
How incredibly beautiful. I love how the new building does not take anything away from the majestic older building. It's lovely to see how the old meets the new in such a symbiotic and respectful way. Looking at those ancient sculptures just gives me goosebumps!
I think that Pyramid is amazing. The Da Vinci Code by Dan Brown speculates that Mary Magdalen is buried under it.
I love seeing the incredible works of art in that museum.
I've heard a lot about Mary Magdalen recently. Is that the encased sarcophagus thing? Macarbe, but fascinatingly beautiful.
Relics of Mary Magdalene
I’ve never been to Paris but I have seen so many pictures of it and I noticed they have tall buildings and pyramid
This is very beautiful
Paris is an incredible city!
Thanks so much!
The Lourve Pyramid is really a very impressive place, I would be awed by the Mona Lisa painting, I have heard and read so much about it.
It is an incredible experience when you first see something in real life that you have only previously known in books or from TV.
I was in Paris one month ago and visited Louvre Museum. I was amazed when I saw the pyramid structure. I didn't go inside even though I wanted to see Mona Lisa. I am glad you wrote about Mona Lisa and gave me the chance to read about the painting. Maybe next time I will go inside the Museum...
What sites did you visit?
Mostly around the Eiffel Tower, restaurants, and shopping centers. I was there only for a day...
I think you could spend 6 months in Paris and still not see it all!
I have seen this pyramid before and could spot it cause I was familiar with it, it sure is an engineering marvel.
It is indeed! You have visited Paris?
I didn't realize the Mona Lisa is only 15 X 30 inches. I always imagined it being much larger. I also didn't know about the modern constructed pyramid it looks great among the older buildings.
It is such a grand and significant work of art that I envisioned it to be very much larger and was surprised when I saw it. As you can imagine, the pyramid created a lot of controversy when it was completed in 1989.
Yes I always thought it was around 6 foot by 4 foot. I can see why it's behind glass with guards you could tuck that sucker under your shirt, hehe.
Not too many years ago someone threw pumpkin soup, or some such thing on it in protest about some cause.
WTH some people's kids...Whatever happened to peaceful protests? So many other ways to solve issues in this world.
It's a visit not to be missed, the photos are very nice, but if I may say so, it's the LOUVRE not the Lourve.

.Wow Mel, I didn't realize the Mona Lisa was so small either. Must be surreal to see it in person. !PIZZA
It is surreal. I've felt that same astonishment each time I have viewed something that held such significance that I had only seen previously in books and in movies. Rather like the first time I saw the Grand Canyon or the US Capitol Building!
The Louvre is special, indeed. Love it
It holds so many treasures!
It's such a beautiful museum! I saw the Mona Lisa pre bullet proof glass days, sad how much the world has changed... It's a very small painting though for all of it's fame. It's hard to see everything you would like in a day though, it's just so enormous! I'm glad she had fun!
!DUO at least I think I have one ready!
You just got DUO from @thebighigg.

Thanks for the DUO! Only 20 more to go to reach my initial goal!
The painting was not shielded when I first saw it either. Pretty sad that there is a need for it.
Wooow, I would like to go to Paris, they say it's the city of love and that it is beautiful.
It is a beautiful city! I hope you get to go someday.
And I hope so ❤️
Beautiful experience for your granddaughter 🙂 love that pyramid but it will always make be think of Da Vinci Code now due to that scene with the dead body there 🙄
Me too! Wasn't the idea that Mary Magdeline was buried under the pyramid? I should read that book again
I had recently heard a lot about this museum and today because of you I virtually visited it too. :) and It's undoubtedly amazing. You said it right, Travel has the power to change lives.
Stunning!! I absolutely love Louvre!!
