Hello everyone, today I would like to greet everyone with another view of Barcelona, Spain. If anyone has visited this place, they must have seen this place while we were walking past. When they saw it, they must have been struck by this distinctive building. On top, there are blue and white mosaic tiles that attract attention. This place is Monumental Barcelona.
The Monumental is an ancient bullfighting arena, which is currently not open for use because it is banned. It is considered the oldest bullfighting arena in Spain. It is a historical symbol of the city that is the last trace of the bullfighting tradition in Catalonia. This arena is designed in the Omu deja style, which was first opened in 1914. It was designed by Francisco de Paula del Villar, an architect, and renovated by another architect, Manuel Girona. It has been the main bullfighting arena in the city for decades.
And in 2010, bullfighting was banned in Catalonia. This is the end of this place, but this place is still open to organize various exhibitions, concerts or cultural activities. In addition, it is also a place to learn about history, both architecture and culture through a museum for tourists.
And while I was walking around, I came across this place located on the corner of street Gran Via and Calle Marina. I could only wonder what this place was, but I thought it must be an important place. It's a pity that I didn't find any information beforehand, so I didn't go inside because from what I saw around, it looked very quiet, like it was closed to visitors. Later, I found out that this place is the Monumental Barcelona bullfighting ring.
Although I didn't go inside the ring, the image I saw was a beautiful, old, and outstanding architecture. When I learned the information, I liked it even more because I walked past it many times. Wow what an incredible place and full of history, honestly to be more than 110 years old the building looks spectacular. And now that I am here in Spain, I have also seen bullrings here in Madrid closed, more specifically where I live in Leganés there is also one, however it is not at all like the one in your post.
I also thought that at some point I was going to see a bullfight, or an encerrona "basically when the bull goes after everyone through the city", but too bad they banned them, as cruel as it is, it is pure Spanish culture.
