Welcome back to the second part of our adventures through the ghost town that is London. Hopefully you enjoyed the first part! The streets being so empty are like a scene from an apocalyptic horror movie, very eery.
On this part of the adventure, we will be continuing our bike ride around the sights of London. The first stop on our tour continuing on from yesterday along the embankment is the Cleopatra's Needle overlooking the London Eye – which we will get to later. We turn right at Cleopatra's Needle and head towards Trafalgar square. The photo below is of one of two sphinxes at the base of London's Cleopatra's Needle. The scars you can see on the pedestal are from fragments of a bomb dropped close to it, during a world war 1 aerial bombing.
We quickly passed by Trafalgar square (Photo above) and headed onto The Mall, usually full of traffic it is crazy to cycle on the road. However, we cycled the whole way down to Buckingham palace on the road, we were the only ones on it. How spectacular approaching Buckingham palace with the trees either side opening up to present the birthday cake (Victoria memorial) . Having Lived in wellington barracks next to Buckingham palace for a number of years, it was very bizarre being the only souls there. Even the barracks looked and sounded abandoned. Usually there was constant noise of parade practice and work going on behind the scenes. Buckingham Palace usually has 576,995 visitors a year!
We decided to loop back through green park and head up to Piccadilly circus which as you know from the movies is always a hustling and bustling hub to the Famous West End of London.In fact over 100 million people walk through Piccadilly Circus each year, thats 273,972 a day!
We have seen many many theatre shows here, usually started by fighting our way through the streets to China town for a Chinese (my favourite type of food, after being bought up on homemade Chinese by my mum and grandma!). But today we glided through piccadilly circus and into a ghost town that is china town, not a soul in sight.
Having been in shock and ore of china town, we rolled down to Carnaby Street down through Soho, this is where it got really eery, lots of shops and bars had been boarded up. Usually when I visited Soho with Naomi and her brother Jack (seen in the picture) you are shoulder to shoulder with people, a great night out!
Next came Covent Garden, we decided to walk this short stretch to get a better feel for it and take in the natural beauty and stillness of Covent garden. 44 million people visit it each year, 120,000 a day!
As you can see there is no one around at all except for Naomi, Jack and I.
With the sun setting we decided to head home and to resume our adventure tomorrow. Tomorrow we will be Visiting the likes of the London Eye, Tower Bridge, the Millennium dome and much more!

A ghost town indeed! So eerily unusual scenes... At some point last year, Prague, the capital of my country, also looked like this, although it´s usually crowded with tourists. Thanks for sharing these very special photos with us! :)

Yes I thought it would be something that no one has seen except for in the movies! It was a once in a lifetime occurance!

When there's no people around and nothing to pay attention to other than the buildings, the architecture is really noticeable. After living in Thailand for so long, it looks slightly strange... Definitely not my normal view when popping out to the local market here or driving through the city. A totally different world.
