Moraira - covered by clouds

The day started in a dramatic way... The weather, I mean. Finally, I am having a day off, so the plan was to spend it outdoors, in Teulada and Moraira, and surrounding towns. We left our son early in the morning at a whole day-long orchestra project (it started yesterday) where they work on several pieces and tomorrow, the final day, there will be a concert too.

Happy, free parents! I checked the camera and it showed the battery was full.

  • Life lesson no. 1 - never trust the battery level indicator if you haven't used the photo camera lately. I was able to take a few photos until it asked to be charged and stopped working.

I was almost like the statue you see here, at our starting point of the excursion... A representation of myself asking why I have to be that foolish sometimes. Or maybe he was just asking the skies why the day was not sunny!

Let's get a few steps closer to him. Is he in a struggle, in pain?

The hands of Giant of Salt show tragedy and sorrow but also hope.

On the board where I saw what his name was (Giant of Salt), I read that this work of art carries the message of celebration of life!

Again and again we are reborn. We are not born just from our mother’s womb. Rebirth is necessary time and time again always, in every place and in every moment. Again and again.

I think it is a very powerful message and could be labelled in my post as another life lesson. But we leave behind now this work of art and go toward the Castle of Moraira, which is quite inconsiderable compared to other, huge castles. Also, it was one of the last photos the camera wanted to take. We continue with phone photos.

In this pretty small town, the Castle is one of the main attractions. It was built in the 18th century for defence (from pirates and Berber attacks) and surveillance purposes.

The walls of it are around 10 meters high, made of stone. If you observed it from the sea, you would see that it has a semicircular facade. In its northern part, what we can approach, there is just one door. How cool would be to see its interior!

From a board that was in front of the entrance, I learned that the building is now used for a permanent exhibition of the watchtowers. Unfortunately, it was closed at the time we were there.

We didn't stay for a long time in that area anyway as the wind was so strong and the sea was rough. I felt salty water drops on my lips and face; the combination of the strong wind and those waves reminded me of a salt mine we visited last year. Do you know which one?

It is easy, just look at the bag I had with me today. I bought it at that place, in Poland when we went to meet other Hivers. I am so happy with my purchase, right now it is my favourite cloth bag.

From here, we took staircases to climb to a promenade and see the marina of Moraira.

I guess pirate ships would not be seen here so our little stroll, going away from the sea and wind continued in the narrow streets of Moraira. I loved the colourful little flags hanging in front of one shop.

IMG_20240309_143011.jpg

We met no one on the streets... just one mural (a butterfly or a flower?) and a few statues. A fisherman's family and a person with a dog.

Look how interesting are the benches. Under the stone panel, there are plenty of metal fish that serve as legs to the bench.

IMG_20240309_142804.jpg

After finding a little church (you know that I always like to find a church in a place we visit) it was time to make new plans. Continue to other towns or find shelter from the weather...?

The palm trees indicated that it was better to go home, as the wind had no intentions to calm down. We reached the parked car and the rain started. Was it another life lesson - always observe the leaves of the palm trees? 😂

Despite the weather, you enjoyed the ride, and especially the sea. After today's experience, you will never stop checking your camera again. Very nice statues.🤗🤗🤗🤗

Well, I don't take the camera many times with me so I suppose it was not the last time it happened 😂
{Recently we bought a new battery for it so I trusted it would last for longer time.}

The Giant of Salt looks really impressive, must be even more interesting to see it in person. I love how there's plenty of art pieces there. The whole place looks really nice

Yeah, the giant is impressive, well, he is a giant - bigger than we are :D
And he was not bothered by the wind, I think he is somehow more resistant than humans 😁

Yes, look at the palm trees, at least in Cuba they indicate important meteorological data😁 ...

I was fascinated by each of the statues. The salt giant is impressive and somehow reminds us of some unexpressed emotion very well hidden within us.

I just want to know if the townspeople were home because of the wind. It's so strange for me to see a town without people!!! I find it disturbing!!!

A hug from Havana!!!

So the palm trees are the meteorologists everywhere 😂

I guess it was the case, cold and windy so not many people had the same idea to stroll around as we. Just a few.

I like your interpretation of the giant... hugs received and sent 🤗

Hahahaha... And if they are coconut trees, depending on the number of coconuts on the ground this is what the storm will be like 😂

Impressive what the palm trees show!!!! Decian go home, this dangerous hahaha

It's true, I've gone through the phone battery issue and now I take a portable battery with me if I go far....

That sculpture, the hands, my god!!!! With how difficult it is to make hands and feet, in art it's very complicated because of the folds and veins. I love that sculpture.

The staircase... pure beauty!😍

Hahaha, the palm trees always say the truth 😂

I am glad to hear your opinion about the sculpture as you are a professional in this field. I also saw how nicely it was made, and that position, the hands open towards the sky...

It is a marvel and the position in which it is another marvel, very well done, the details are incredible... I fell in love!

Your post it's so cool first you make me laugh a lot in the first part and yes battery always fell down when you need it and second in these days I looks like the statue, third so I'm not the only one that akeays find churches to visit 😂

Haha, so you also search for the churches 😁

It seems that sometimes we are all like that sculpture, but he at least doesn't have to think about full or empty batteries haha

I love the view! Also the sculpture looks very interesting. He has a strange expression on his face. And the story is interesting.
Looks like you're having a lot of fun there 😅

Yes, the expression on his face and whole body is strong, probably as we all, humans have to go through and be reborn again and again. ;)

It's even worst when you forget to put battery in your camera, don't ask how I know it. 🤣

I want to see castle interior too 🥹 shall we blame on battery and your anger for being late? :D

In Swiss I had to learn and calculate for how soon it's gonna start raining since I spot the dark clouds, that was fun!

So, how do you know that? 😂

It doesn't rain many times here, but yesterday was a cloudy & rainy one. Today a mixture of sun and rain, no cloud or palm tree would guess the weather today! :D

Sorry about your camera batteries, but the phone pictures still came out great. I love the church the sculptures, in fact I can imagine myself being the one on this adventure. I'm sure you had a great time.

Thank you @fredaa, I am glad you liked those photos too. We ride with what we have, so if the battery died - the phone was used instead.

Which salt mine are you referring to 🤔? Though I have to sa6, that bag looks very familiar...

The one in which @priyanarc went missing a few times 😁

🤣 I am iconic 😎

You are! ;))))

😅 Let's see where I get lost next time during meet-ups... 🤣

The tour guides will remember you - wherever it will be 😋

I hope you are doing well, a hug to you 🤗

🤣 I still can't figure out how she remembered my name... Even in Venice, The tour guide found me... 🤣

I am well today, had a nice start to the week. I hope you are well too...

This is amazing. I hope someday I will go there.

This is a really small coastal town, but pretty. I hope you can travel one day to all the places you would like to 😊

That castle looks strong like it was built with stones that are extremely strong
Nice pictures and I love your life lessons too

Yes, it had to be made in that way, to defend the town and area from the pirate attacks.

@mipiano Congratulations to the artist, a very well done sculpture. And your photos are sensational

I am glad you liked it, the giant was sculpture was really cool!
