A little about beauty
"Any trip is a holiday that will forever remain in your memory" — someone
The weather is wonderful these days, so we decided to take advantage of these sunny days to go to the city of Istra, in the outskirts of which there is a magnificent monastery.
Frankly, I learned about its existence a long time ago, from textbooks on the history of architecture, when I was studying at the university. The image of the monastery shocked me so much that I decided to definitely visit there. It turned out that the monastery is located at a distance of about 50 kilometers from the capital. Time passed, years flew by, but I never found the opportunity to visit there. But finally it came true, we went to this remarkable place
We left early, at 6 o'clock in the morning. When we arrived, we left the car in a large free parking lot almost near the walls of the monastery; many visitors were already coming to meet us. As the ancients said - He who gets up early, God gives him!
While we were driving, I briefly told my fellow travelers the history of the monastery, what I remembered from the course on the history of architecture. The monastery was founded in the 17th century by Patriarch Nikon, who wished to create holy places for believers similar to those in Jerusalem. It is clear that the path to Palestine is not close. It was very difficult for pilgrims to get there. The journey took years. Along the way, the pilgrim was faced with robbers, slave traders, hunger, heat and thirst. It is not surprising that many of the pilgrims did not return home. This is probably why the patriarch decided to simplify life for his flock.
Subsequently, the monastery experienced many trials. Its walls remember the struggle against religion and the arrival of modern barbarians in 1941. The Nazis blew up the Resurrection Cathedral. Representatives of the superior race thus carried culture to the east.
We go to the entrance to the monastery. Through the arch of the gate a breathtaking view reveals itself. The power of snow-white walls, bright golden domes against the backdrop of a leaden sky - all this produces a strong impact on the visitor.
We pass under the arch and can observe the cathedral in all its splendor. It's not just a word, it's truly amazing! After many years of restoration, it seemed to have acquired a second wind and looked younger. Snow-white walls in several tiers, light and airy and very festive.
We walk around the complex clockwise and go inside the cathedral. Once again, it’s hard to contain my emotions. What rich decoration!
There is a small queue of believers to get inside the small chapel. We see representatives of other religions among visitors. They, too, feel awe and joy from what they see.
I would like to note how successfully the juxtaposition of the sublime and the mortal is realized. All food outlets in the form of cafes, canteens and restaurants are located on the north side of the monastery. Entrances to establishments do not have flashy signs or aggressive advertising. All information is presented in a discreet manner.
We visited a cafe where they make dumplings. Here you can try different types of food: lean dumplings with cabbage and potatoes, and dumplings with meat
My friends and I really enjoyed this weekend trip. The magnificent cathedral will not leave anyone indifferent. Finally, I was able to see with my own eyes an image from the period of my architectural youth. It's great that we didn't postpone our trip here. Such rich impressions and emotions will be stored in memory for a long time.
That,s all for today.
Stand by
Sincerely yours
