I used my summer solstice vacation to travel. You can read my earlier blog if you like.
Midsummer pole in outside of Mora, Sweden
I found the Midsummer Pole, which is mentioned in the movie Midsummer, and went nearby to see if I could find it.
The Midsummer movie is pretty much made for the movies, but this is what it looks like to dance around the actual Midsummer Pole.
The Darlana and Härjedalen regions are really full of nature and have retained the old Swedish farmhouse landscape. There are many beautiful landscapes that have been preserved along with their traditions.
Härjedalen!!
After a short break, we went all the way to our destination, Härjedalen. We bought flowers at a local supermarket to visit the grave. Then the rest of the way was through a forest of fir trees to our destination.
When we arrived at Härjedalen, we were greeted by Sambo's family. We are so grateful to Sambo's family for waiting for us with so much preparation for us to come visit them. Every time I come to Härjedalen, I remember how my grandparents used to welcome me with many preparations when I visited my parents' house. It is a warm memory.
The red-painted building stands out against the forest of fir trees. A beautiful stream flows behind the sauna hut, and you can take an outdoor bath by soaking in water drawn from the stream. Sometimes reindeer, deer, and moose seem to come to the garden. This area is also famous as a bear habitat, and mother bears with small cubs sometimes come to this garden.
Even in June, it is still chilly in Härjedalen when the wind blows a little, so we warmed up in the grill hut, where we sipped cocktails and talked about all sorts of things, while Sambo Mama called out that our feast was ready.
In Sweden, the summer solstice is a day to celebrate overcoming the long winter. We ate potatoes, strawberries, pickled herring, rye bread, and much more along with traditional Swedish food. Sambo mama is truly a professional cook, and I am filled with gratitude when I think about how much time she spent preparing such a feast each time.
Salads with vegetables grown in the garden, smoked grilled trout caught in a nearby creek by Sambo mama, mushroom gratin, grilled salmon, and steak ribs were truly delicious. The smoked trout caught by Sambo Mama was really aromatic and extremely delicious!
After dinner, I went for a walk in the neighborhood with Sambo's grandmother. Grandma advised us that bears come out in this area, so we should always talk each other and chat a lot when we go into the woods. It seems that if you walk through the forest while talking and making noise, the bears will be scared and won't come near you. We applied mosquito repellent oil to prevent a large number of mosquitoes and went for a walk in the forest. Wild flowers were in full bloom everywhere. Water melted from the mountains was pouring into the creek.
After the walk, we had a strawberry dessert made by Sambo Mama.
I felt that we would all like to visit Japan again. I hope to think about what kind of hospitality we can offer in Japan and make many good memories.
夏至の休暇～いざ、ヘリエダーレンへ
夏至の休暇を使って、旅行に行きました。先のブログもよしよかったら。
Midsummerという映画の中でも出てくる、Midsummer Poleを見つけて近くに行ってみてみました。
Midsummerの映画はかなり映画用に作られているけど、実際のMidsummer Poleの周りを囲って踊るのはこんな感じです。
ダーラナ地方やヘリエダーレン地方は本当に自然がいっぱい残っていて、昔のスウェーデンの農家の風景を残している地域です。本当にきれいな風景がたくさん伝統と共に残っています。
少し休憩の後は目的地であるHärjedalenまで一挙に行きました。お墓参りをする為に地元のスーパーでお花を買いました。そして、あとはモミの木の森を抜けて目的地へ向かいました。
ヘリエダーレンへ着くと、サンボの家族が迎えてくれました。遊びに来るためにたくさんの用意をして待ってくれている、サンボの家族には本当にありがたい気持ちでいっぱいになります。わたしが両親の実家にあそびにいったときに祖父母がたくさん色々な用意をして迎えてくれた思い出がここへ来るたびに思い出されます。温かい思い出です。
赤く塗られた建物がモミの森に映えます。きれいな小川がサウナ小屋の裏に流れていて、小川から汲み取った水を浸かって野外お風呂にも入れます。時には庭にトナカイや鹿、ヘラジカなども来るようです。この地域は熊の生息地としても有名で、この庭にも小熊ずれの母親熊がたまに来るようです。
６月でもやはり少し風が吹くと肌寒いのがHärjedalen。グリル小屋の中で暖まり、そこでカクテルを飲みながらいろいろな話をしている間に、サンボママがご馳走ができたわよーと呼んでくれました。
スウェーデンでは夏至は長かった冬を乗り越えたお祝いを行う日です。ジャガイモ、いちご、ニシンの酢漬け、ライ麦のパンなど伝統的なスウェーデンの料理と一緒にたくさんのものを食べました。サンボママは本当にプロの料理人の様に料理が上手く、毎回この様なご馳走の準備にどれだけの時間がかかったのかと考えると感謝でいっぱいになります。
庭で栽培した野菜を使ったサラダ、サンボママが近くの小川で釣ったタラの燻製焼き、キノコのグラタン、サーモンのグリル、ステーキリブなど、本当に美味しかったです。サンボママが釣ってきたタラの燻製は本当に香りがよく、めっちゃおいしかったです！
食事の後は、サンボのおばあちゃんと近所の散歩に行きました。この辺りは熊が出るから森に入る時は常に話さないとだめよとおばあちゃんから助言をもらいました。話をしたり、音をたてながら森を歩くと、熊は怖がって近寄ってこないようです。大量に発生している蚊の対策に蚊よけオイルを塗布して森を散策しました。野花が満開に至る所で咲き誇っていました。山から溶けだした水が小川に注いでいました。
散歩の後はサンボママが作ってくれたイチゴのデザートを食べました。
また、みんなで日本に遊びに行きたいなと感じました。日本ではどのようなおもてなしが出来るのか、色々と考えてたくさん良い思い出が出来ればと思います。

Sweden is such a beautiful country, everything I see pictures like this I can't help to have the growing need to go there someday.
