Yo, Dear Hivers!
After a busy schedule with my work and school, I finally spent time dating myself in a new place I'd never visited before.
This Saturday, I am exploring San Juan, Manila for a specific reason. I want to see what's inside that old museum called "El Deposito" and the history behind it.
I took the LRT2 from Antipolo to V. Mapa and from there I booked a Motortaxi for quick transportation.
Upon reaching the place, I was amazed by the view outside.
I've always been curious about the relics and artifacts that might be hidden beneath Metro Manila. Many items used by our ancestors could still be lying under a skyscraper in Makati or beneath EDSA, waiting to be unearthed. Some of these treasures might have been discovered and placed in museums, while others could have been overlooked by diggers who didn't recognize their significance or left them buried to avoid disrupting construction. However, some artifacts are so significant that they just need a little push from the local government to be excavated, like the El Deposito.
After the registration, you just need to watch first the history of El Deposito Museum in AVR, and then you can visit and explore all the galleries.
Gallery 1
You will see a piece of old equipment, fountains, coins, barrels, jars, and even old hydrants, these might be the old tools that our ancestors used during that era.
Gallery 2
In Gallery 2, There a papers and manuscripts that were printed, also I noticed some old fragments, pieces of rusty metals, and stones that been found in El Deposito back then.
Gallery 3
For the last Gallery, I saw a lot of old stuff displayed such as; bottles, broken ceramics, and marbles, that were collected near El Deposito some of them are restored and displayed here in this museum.
After the museum, I started exploring the underground reservoir, just beside the museum's exit there's a hallway connected to the reservoir's entrance.
Seeing the underground reservoir illuminated by lamps felt like a dramatic encounter with history. I was awestruck by its immense size. While venturing deeper into the tunnel was a bit unsettling, it sparked my curiosity to learn more about its history and the events that took place there. However, I admit that the place is scary as well so I didn't recommend going by yourself. Fortunately, there were other visitors that day. Lol!
Seeing El Deposito made me wish for more historical structures like this to be uncovered and shared with the Filipino people. This would not only enhance tourism but also help complete the missing pieces of our national identity.
The museum is open from Tuesdays to Sundays (9 AM - 4 PM) with no entrance fee, you can also visit the Museo ng Katipunan just beside the El Deposito Museum.
I think that's all for me, thank you for reading this blog.
Have a great day ahead!
Mooon out! 🤙

I never knew this museum! Such an interesting one. Is it not crowded on weekends? Looks like it was not that busy. I should check this out!

Hi Ji, Yes, it is not crowded on weekends, so you should visit it. Thank you for dropping by and for the reblog.
The first time I rode the LRT, I saw a lot of museums and attractions. I thought it would be a wonderful experience to visit them, but it’s already been months since then, and I still haven’t visited any 😅. I don’t think this museum was on the list, but this looks interesting and I guess it would be a great experience to visit.
Yes, you should and I swear it is really worth it. Thank you for dropping by. Hope you are doing well
Oh I just checked my camera roll and it's actually here! Gotta go there one day, once I know how to use the public transpo alone! 😅
Since nasa LRT2 kana, try National museum, super worth it coz you can visit 3 museums in one place. Let's go!
