Sylhet Travel Story: Jaflong, Bichnakandi, Ratargul and Bholaganj Sadapathar in three days
Sylhet is full of hills, waterfalls and greenery, all the tourist attractions are scattered. Rocky rivers, forests, fountains, tea-gardens surrounded by green hills are not here! Tourists and travelers come to see the diversity of Sylhet. We three friends also decided to go on a trip to Sylhet, a bud country of two leaves. Shafukul Islam Jasim, one of the three, lives in Manikganj. Another Saiful Islam in Savar. And I am in Dhaka. Three night and two day plan. I decided to go one night, stay one night, come back another night and visit most of the spots in Sylhet in two days.
Which spots will I see?
First I will see the blue water of Lalakhal. Then Jaflong known as Prakritikanya. Then we will see Ratargul, the only freshwater wetland in the country, the river bed famous for its water-stones and the white stones of natural beauty of the clouds-stones-water-mountains. Also see Tea Garden, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Hi-Tech Park, Shahjalal University of Science and Technology and Shrine of Hazrat Shahjalal (r.h.) and Shahparan (r.h.).
Ratargul
Ratargul Wetland is the only freshwater wetland and wildlife sanctuary in Bangladesh, located at Gowainghat in Sylhet. The forest area is 3,325.61 acres, of which 504 acres were declared as wildlife sanctuary in 1983. It is one of the few wetlands in the world. It has been preserved under the Forest Department. Karach trees are the most grown here. During the monsoon season, the forest is submerged under 20-30 feet of water. The rest of the year, the water level is about 10 feet.
Where will I stay?
Sylhet has become popular not only for its natural beauty but also for its many luxurious and beautiful resorts and hotels. That is why the residents of the work-weary city rushed to this noise-free tea kingdom. The lion's share of the country's most luxurious resorts are located in Sylhet. Among them is the five star Rose View Hotel, a popular and luxurious hotel in Sylhet Sadar. There are also modern and well-equipped Hotel Garden Inn, Hotel Nurjahan Grand, La Vista Hotel, Hotel Star Pacific, Hotel Mira Garden and many more. We decided to stay at the La Vista Hotel. It is located in Lama Bazar of Sylhet city. I had already booked the number from the hotel's website.
The spots at a glance
Jaflong is located at the foothills of the Khasia-Jainta hills in the Gowainghat upazila of Sylhet, bordering the Meghalaya border of India. Its distance from Sylhet city is 72 kilometers. The suspension bridge of Dauki port in India also attracts many people here. Along with tourism, Jaflong is also famous for rocks. Working people have been making a living by doing stone work for many years.
How to get to Sylhet
There are three ways to reach Sylhet from the capital Dhaka. Road, rail and sky. There are several daily flights in the air. Several transports including Hanif, Shyamoli, Greenline transport go from Dhaka to Sylhet by road. Rent is not AC 480 rupees, AC 1200 rupees. A few trains also go every day. Upban Express, Parabat Express, Jayantika and Kalni Express are some of them. Rent AC chair Snigdha 630 rupees. AC cabin 1149 rupees. Chair 320 rupees. We decided to take the Upban Express. The train leaves the airport station at exactly 9 o'clock. Arrived in Sylhet at 5 in the morning.
Bedwetting
Bichanakandi is located in Gowainghat upazila of Sylhet. This is basically a stone query; Where stones are collected from the river. At this place different levels of Meghalaya mountains have come together at one point. A waterfall coming down from the mountains of Meghalaya has created a lake here which is connected to the river Piain. The rocks here are very natural and they come down through the water along the mountain slopes. Where small and big stone bed leaves! Clear water is gushing over it. To calm the body, the tourists lean on the bed or get up to play in the water. Once the body is lying down, it does not want to get up.
Where to eat?
There are several good quality food hotels in Zindabazar area of Sylhet. Five Bhai Hotel and Pansi Hotel are among them. However, the quality of food at the Five Brothers Hotel is very good and the prices are relatively low. Assorted mash, meat, fish, khichuri is very funny. Their five mixed items are great. We went and ate with five brothers and Pansi. I told the CNG autorickshaw driver to go straight to the hotel from the spot.
Saliva
Lalakhal is a tourist area and important place in Jaintapur upazila of Sylhet. The river Goain flows past Lalakhal. There are numerous bends in that river. On the banks of the river there are hilly forests, tea gardens and various species of trees. The water of Lalakhal is blue. The color of the river water is due to the sandy bottom of the river instead of the minerals and mud mixed with the flowing water from the Jaintia hills.
White stone
As you walk along the sand dunes along the Dhalai river, you see a solid rock kingdom. The clear water of the mountain is coming down by touching the rocks. There is solid rock on both sides of the vast area and clear water in between. Clouds embrace the hills of Meghalaya. This is like the white stone, the paradise of nature. All in all a strange canvas of beauty. It is located in Bholaganj of Kompaniganj upazila of Sylhet.
Sylhet Tour Plan
It takes three to four days to see the sights of Sylhet. Far from one spot to another. We three friends planned to cover ten notable places of interest in two days.
Day 1: Jaflong, Lalakhal, Ratargul, Tea Garden, Shrine of Shahparan (Rah.) And Shahjalal University of Science and Technology
Last word on the two-day trip to Sylhet
To save time, we ate lunch and came to town in the afternoon. Besides, it is not possible to see most of the spots in Sylhet in such a short time. He will rent CNG autorickshaws from the Amberkhana area of the city. Lives on Jaflong or white stone. It will not be possible to see so many spots in two days by going by bus. Have a nice trip.
