When you go on a trip, you have to be prepared for anything. That's why you should always persevere, try, and give it your all. To fully understand this adventure, I invite you to read the first part on my blog. After taking a tour of the town of Sarare and reaching Mayitas Park, I decided to venture into the most remote area (this was suggested by one of my uncles).
I was able to reach the spot where my family was, and all our things were there. The first thing that caught my attention was the color of the water. It was crystal clear, but it looked blue. The only thing that didn’t stand out perfectly in the place we were was the depth of the river. However, I was captivated by the beauty and the nature of that part of the park, The Mayitas.

I took a few photos of my first impression and how the water looked next to the stones. Incredible! It was a unique scene.
I quickly changed to get into the river for a while. As I walked into the water, it stirred up. I also noticed there were very deep parts in it.

The mountain created a sort of barrier with the riverbed. On it, there was a dry tree branch. It was interesting because it was there in a very intriguing, yet natural way.

Clearly, my family began to light a campfire with the intention of creating embers with the charcoal they had bought to grill meat and have lunch (I didn’t take a photo of the grill once it was ready, I went to explore).
Tell me, isn't this beautiful and relaxing, just by looking at it? I’ll leave several photos so you can see how stunning and peaceful this place was: water, nature, and peace. The air was so pure, it filled me with vitality.

I decided, along with one of my uncles, who is an environmentalist, and my brother, to venture into the deeper part of the park. That is, to see everything that was inside. Everything is connected by a dirt path. The surroundings are filled with trees (there’s some cellphone signal, which is somewhat convenient).
As we walked, we came across other stretches of the river further ahead of where we had camped. It was clear that the river didn’t have enough water; one part was dry (lack of rain). The water was clearer, but not deep.

I found a part where there was river sand and also a stone on the side of the mountain. It was very interesting because of the triangular shape it had.
As we continued, we reached a point where the water was flowing with great force. We took the opportunity to bathe there since the water was incredible, and it seemed to come from two different points. There was a convergence of two riverbeds: one that was blue and the other greenish.

The way the water merged and flowed in the river was great. It was even more pleasant because of the number of stones that slowed down the water's movement.
In that spot, I took more photos because everything was beautiful and charming. The sound of the water was fantastic, and the way the sunlight filtered through the tree branches was even better.

We kept walking to get deeper into the heart of Mayitas Park. We came across a lovely, fantasy-like scene. The water had pooled, there was no strong flow, and the earth beneath it was muddy. I had to pass through it, and it was difficult because it could suck me in.
After getting past this part of the river, I took a photo of the feat. The scene was stunning and enchanting because I took it from a higher point, which allowed a better view of this part of The Mayitas River.

We noticed, as we climbed, that there was a dirt path that we followed. The vegetation was denser as we went deeper, but my uncle told me there were other wells further ahead (I felt interested).
The peace you feel there is magnificent. There are no people, the only sounds you hear are those of animals, insects, and the river. Everything is very captivating.

As we continued walking, we came across other parts of the river. This one, in particular, had little water, but the scene was lovely.
I got scared because I thought we had found a beehive, but it was actually something else (I always forget its name). Now I can’t remember, sorry about that. What I know is that it’s not dangerous.
We managed to reach Pozo Azul. The name was engraved on a stone. I took some photos, but this well was almost dry. The water color is even more incredible. I noticed, by traces on the mountain, that it is indeed very deep (this must be during the rainy season).

The view there was also captivating. I wanted to bathe there, but my uncle told me we should head back. I looked around and saw there was a perfect spot to bathe, so I quickly did before returning.
We went back via a different path. On the other side, we entered an area full of beautiful trees. They were enormous; at first glance, it was clear they had been there for many years.

We found a fence that marked the boundary of another piece of land, but it clearly outlined the path. Inside, there was a house built with mud bricks. This surprised us a lot because it was practically in a remote area of the park.
There was a very peculiar tree I wanted to photograph because of its branches. If it was able to grow like that, why do we humans limit ourselves? That question came to my mind.
We returned to the spot where the water converged and I bathed there again. I took the opportunity to chat with my brother and uncle. I relaxed for a while before going back to where the rest of my family was.

I’ll be honest: I didn’t want to leave because the water there was incredible, and the surroundings were fantastic. Since there were no other people, the whole place was ours.
We returned and arrived at the perfect time. The grill was already ready. I ate and decided, after resting, to bathe again. Everything was beautiful. Once I got back in, I noticed, with more peace, that it was even more incredible than what I saw at first.
We stayed until 5:30 p.m., Venezuela time. The park workers arrived at that hour to tell us we had to leave. We gathered everything, including our trash, and got ready to go.

I took advantage of the moment, after everyone had left the river, to take photos of the place, and it looked amazing. The water had settled and turned blue again.
It was a wonderful experience, mainly because it’s a place where you can disconnect from urban life and daily activities. In my opinion, it’s perfect for exploring and spending a totally different day.

Mayitas: Pozo Azul - Sarare – Parte 2
Cuando vas de viaje, debes estar preparado para todo. Por eso, siempre debes perseverar, intentarlo y darlo todo. Para poder entender esta aventura, te invito a leer la priemera parte en mi blog. Luego de hacer todo un recorrido por el pueblo de Sarare y llegar al Parque Las Mayitas, decidí adentrarme hasta la parte más recóndita (esto por sugerencia de uno de mis tíos).
Pude llegar a la parte donde se encontraba mi familia y estaban todas nuestras cosas. Lo primero que me llamó la atención fue la coloración del agua. Era cristalina, pero se veía azul. Lo único que no destacaba perfectamente del lugar en donde estábamos era la profundidad del río. Sin embargo, estaba atraído por la belleza y la naturaleza de esa parte del parque, Las Mayitas.
Tomé algunas fotografías de mi primera impresión y de cómo se veía el agua junto a las piedras. ¡Increíble! Era una escena única.
Me cambié rápidamente para entrar un rato al río. A medida que caminaba dentro del agua, se revolvía. Además, noté que había partes muy profundas en él.
La montaña mantenía una especie de barrera con el cauce del río. En ella había una rama de árbol que estaba seca. Era interesante porque estaba allí de una manera muy intrigante, pero natural.
Evidentemente, mi familia comenzó a encender una fogata con el propósito de generar brazas junto al carbón que había comprado para hacer una parrilla de carne y almorzar (no tomé una fotografía de la parrilla de carne cuando estuvo lista, me fui a explorar).
Dime si esto no es hermoso y relajante, solo con mirarlo. Dejaré varias fotografías para que veas lo hermoso y tranquilo que era este lugar: agua, naturaleza y paz. El aire era demasiado puro, me llené de vitalidad.
Decidí, junto a uno de mis tíos, que es ambientalista, y mi hermano, adentrarme en la parte más profunda del parque. Es decir, ver todo lo que estaba allí dentro. Todo está conectado por un sendero de tierra. Los alrededores están llenos de árboles allí (hay algo de señal telefónica, lo cual es favorable de algún modo).
A medida que caminaba, nos encontrábamos con otras extensiones del río que estaban más adelante de donde habíamos acampado. Se notaba, claramente, que el río no tenía suficiente agua; es decir, una parte estaba sin agua (falta de lluvias). El agua era más cristalina, pero sin profundidad.
Encontré una parte donde había arena del río y también una piedra en la falda de la montaña. Fue muy interesante debido a la forma triangular que tenía.
Al seguir avanzando, llegamos a un punto donde el agua circulaba con mucha fuerza. Aprovechamos para bañarnos allí, ya que el agua estaba increíble, y al parecer provenía de dos puntos diferentes. Había una convergencia de dos cauces: uno que era azul y otro de color verdoso.
La manera en que el agua se unía y se movía en el río era genial. Era aún más agradable por la cantidad de piedras que retenían la circulación del agua.
En ese lugar aproveché para tomar una mayor cantidad de fotografías debido a que todo era precioso y encantador. El sonido del agua era fantástico; además, la manera en que el sol atravesaba las ramas de los árboles era aún mejor.
Seguimos caminando para adentrarnos en lo más profundo del parque Las Mayitas. Nos encontramos con una escena de fantasía preciosa. El agua se empozaba, no tenía una fuerte circulación y la tierra debajo de ella era lodosa. Tuve que pasar por ahí y fue difícil debido a que podía succionarme.
Luego de pasar esta parte del río, tomé una fotografía de la hazaña. La escena se veía preciosa y encantadora porque fue desde un punto elevado que permitía visualizar mejor esta parte del río Mayitas.
Notamos, al subir, que había un sendero de tierra que seguimos. La materia vegetal era más espesa a medida que nos adentrábamos, pero mi tío me comentó que había otros pozos más lejos (sentí interés).
La paz que se siente allí es magnífica. No hay personas, lo único que escuchas es el sonido que hacen los animales, los insectos y el del río. Todo es muy atrayente.
A medida que seguíamos caminando, nos encontramos con otras partes del río. Este, en particular, tenía poca agua, pero la escena era linda.
Me asusté porque pensé que habíamos encontrado un panal de abejas, pero en realidad era otra cosa (siempre se me olvida su nombre). Ahora no lo recuerdo, perdón, por eso. Lo que sé es que no es peligroso.
Logramos llegar hasta el Pozo Azul. El nombre estaba grabado en una piedra. Tomé algunas fotografías, pero este pozo estaba prácticamente seco. La coloración del agua es aún más increíble. Noté, por rastros en la montaña, que sí llega a ser muy profundo (esto debe ser en periodo de lluvias).
La vista allí también es envolvente. Quería bañarme allí, pero mi tío me indicó que debíamos regresar. Miré un poco el lugar y vi que había un sitio perfecto para bañarme, y lo hice rápidamente antes de volver.
Regresamos por un sendero o camino diferente. Nos adentramos, por otra parte, en una zona llena de árboles preciosos. Eran gigantescos; a simple vista, se notaba que tenían años de vida.
Encontramos una cerca que limitaba con otro terreno, pero marcaba muy bien la línea del camino. Dentro de él, había una casa construida con bloques de barro. Eso nos sorprendió mucho, porque prácticamente estaba en un lugar lejano del parque.
Hubo un árbol muy peculiar que quise fotografiar debido a sus ramificaciones. Si él pudo crecer de ese modo, ¿por qué los seres humanos nos limitamos? Esa pregunta vino a mi mente.
Volvimos al punto donde el agua se unía y me volví a bañar allí. Aproveché para conversar con mi hermano y mi tío. Me relajé un rato antes de volver a donde estaba toda mi familia.
Seré sincero: no quería regresar debido a que el agua allí era increíble y el entorno era fantástico. Como no había más personas, todo el lugar era para nosotros.
Regresamos y llegamos en el momento perfecto. La parrilla ya estaba lista. Comí y decidí, luego de reposar, bañarme nuevamente. Todo era precioso. Luego de entrar, me percaté con mayor tranquilidad de que era más increíble de lo que vi al inicio.
Duramos hasta las 5:30 p.m., hora Venezuela. Los trabajadores del parque llegaron a esa hora para indicarnos que debíamos retirarnos. Recogimos cada una de las cosas, así como nuestra basura, para poder irnos.
Aproveché, luego de que todos habían salido del río, para tomar fotografías del lugar y se veía increíble. El agua se asentó y tornó a color azul.
Fue una experiencia maravillosa, principalmente porque en un lugar donde se puede desconectar de la dinámica urbana y las actividades cotidianas. A mi modo de ver, es perfecto para explorar y pasar un día totalmente diferente.
