Changi Airport, Singapore.

in Worldmappinlast year

It has been a while since I have been to Changi airport so long I was struggling to remember any details other than I was travelling one-way between Darwin and Singapore back in 1992. I was trying to go overland as much as possible on a cheap backpacking adventure. Lots of things have changed starting with all in-flight entertainment. Not only did the Qantas flight have good meals but I could not get through all the free premiere movies I wanted to see. I had to skip to the end of the latest Indian Jones adventure and piece together the time travel ending. As we commenced our decent we were asked to open our shutters on the windows.

Having a window seat gave me some great views and it felt like my own Indiana Jones time travel adventure. The Singapore Bay was full of container ships so many I couldn't count. After get off the plane the time travel feeling was straight back this super, huge, clean, modern airport complete with it own cactus garden and rain vortex.

A monsoonal rain storm was closing in fast. Maybe not Indiana Jones time travel but maybe the pilot was racing to beat any weather.

The cactus garden was out side and the heat and humidity hits you straight away after all that air conditioning.

It is almost Christmas!
It is almost Christmas!

The world’s tallest indoor waterfall the 40 metre high rain vortex was incredible to say the least. I was happy with the photos but they don’t give it the full justice it deserves. We had arrived about 2 in the afternoon and couple spare a bit of time before heading to our accommodation to look around. I was amazed with the engineering and how natural they made made everything look and blend in. The rain vortex made all the high end duty free shopping pale into insignificance.

I wouldn’t mind one of those gold lego looking bear things for the coffee table at home but it looks rather expensive.
