The weather was not looking the best. The rain radar and forecast was predicting a bit of rain and wind all along the coast line. So we decided to head into town were we could get a decent run/walk in with getting soaking wet.
Even though there was a lot of rain around it was plenty hot and humid.
We had been seeing a lot of other people post workouts that went over a few a few bridges and along the river so that was the plan to see if we could find a loop around.
The Story Bridge was our aim as it would get us from Kangaroo Point on the south side of Brisbane River to Fortitude Valley on the North side. The Heritage listed Story Bridge is the longest cantilever bridge in Australia. It took five years to build and opened 1940 and named after John Douglas Story.
They have an adventure bridge climb but we did not do it as we thought the views were more than good enough from the pedestrian walkway.
The Brisbane River never looks the best but the city central business district looked great in the morning light.
They have made nice cycling and foot path along both side of the river which link right into the middle of town.
There was some cool murals on the way off the bridge on the northside.
This was our walk run around area and there are a few other bridge across the Brisbane River but the Story Bridge is the best.

This was a fun loop! I definitely think we could do something similar again soon (ish) - when it's less hot and humid! !LOL

The murals on the way off the bridge add a creative touch to your journey. It's great to hear about the well-designed cycling and footpaths along both sides of the river, providing a picturesque route into the heart of town. Thanks for sharing your walk/run adventure around the Story Bridge area. I look forward to reading more about your travels!
The story bridge looks very beautiful
It looks just like one that we have here but this one is more beautiful
I love it!

What a nice bridge, and the view from it is quite impressive. And it looks not unlike the Connel Bridge in Argyll herein Scotland - although on a much larger scale !

I really do want to go back to Australia at some point but it's so far to travel from the UK. I've only been twice and I feel I still haven't even seen a 1/4 of the country.
It's a big place, I live here and probably only seem a 1/4 !LOL
