Hello, everyone! Today, I’d like to present a location for you where you can unwind and ponder life.
Hermit Mountain View in Binalbagan is such a hidden gem (under, should I say?) and so unlike those over-commercialized touristy destinations in the Philippines.
Scenic Views
At its summit, you’ll be rewarded with sweeping views of Binalbagan and beyond. Depending on the weather, you can observe a combination of beautiful mountains, trees and glimpses of the ocean. The landscape is particularly mesmerizing at sunrise or sunset, making it a great place for nature photography or just to enjoy the peace.
Serenity and Peace
“The biggest draw with this place is the peacefulness.” It’s not saturated with tourists, so you can experience the region with a little solitude. This peaceful atmosphere makes it ideal for those seeking some reflection time, meditation, or simply an escape from the hustle and bustle of the city. The gentle breeze, as well as the surrounding greenery, create a calm, soothing vibe.
Hiking and Outdoor Activities
The best mountain views are also part of a hike, and for hiking lovers, the hike itself is just part of the experience. The trek can be a little difficult for beginners but doable for those with moderate fitness. In addition to that the hike brings you by some local flora and fauna which makes the experience even more charming.
Local Culture and Hospitality
The Binalbaganon people are known to be warm and hospitable. During your visit you will have an opportunity to connect with the people that inhabit the region and maybe learn more about their lifestyle as well; The town has its own unique beauty, a fusion of rusticity and heritage.
Getting There
Hermit Mountain View may not be as quickly accessible as other more commercial tourist spots, they usually take some local transportation to get there, be it motorcycle, jeepney or a private vehicle. The trip is somewhat bumpy, depending on the road's state, but this is an adventure in itself.
Best Time to Visit
To really enjoy the grandeur of Hermit Mountain View, visit during the dry season between December — May. Moreover, the rainfall is less during this period; hence this period is also more suitable for hiking and watching scenery without the discomforts caused by rainfall.
Whether you want to spend some time in nature, time to reflect, or just a day away from the city, Hermit Mountain View is worth checking out.
What to Bring and Wear
Here’s what you need to know when you go to Hermit Mountain View:
Hiking/trekking shoes or comfortable shoes (the path can be rocky or uneven)
Snacks and water for the hike, there is little in the way of facilities around the mountain.
Sunscreen, hat and/or sunglasses if you’re going during the day, since you might be exposed to the sun.
Portable camera or phone to take pictures of the stunning views. If you plan to take pictures with your phone, make sure to pack a power bank.
Accommodation Options
There are not a lot of large scale hotels just near the Hermit Mountain, a few can be found in Binalbagan or in the neighboring towns. More authentic, local experiences are available at some local inns or guesthouses. Those looking to sink themselves in the habitat can camp on-site, but this would mandate additional planning and the correct equipment.
How to Get There
Because the Hermit Mountain View is slightly off the beaten track, the most common itinerary is to come from Bacolod City, the capital of Negros Occidental, to Binalbagan.
By road, Binalbagan is 1.5–2hr away from Bacolod (car/bus). If you want to try these bakeries, you would need to book a local vehicle (motorcycle, jeepney, etc.) from there to get you to the foot of the mountain.
If you go, plan to hire a local guide or set aside time to confirm directions beforehand, as some of the thoroughfares could be tricky to navigate without local knowledge.
Because conditions can change, especially if you are planning on hiking local trails, it’s a good idea to talk to locals to see the state of the road when you are there.
Respecting the Area
Like most natural sites, it’s essential to be respectful of nature and local communities. As the Hermit Mountain View is a rather pristine place, guests should be sure to practice Leave No Trace — that is, clean up after yourself, be sensitive to local customs and appreciate the area’s natural splendor.
Legend from the Land of the Gods
There’s also a sprinkling of local folklore around the area, tales of hermits or people who once sought sanctuary in the mountains. It adds an aura of mystery to the place and draws those who are interested in spirituality, nature, and history. There are certain figures here you need to imagine: there isn't a lot of hard information, only mystery, horror and the addition to the Hermit Mountain View.
