Falassarna Beach - Crete, Greece (September 2023)

in Worldmappin11 months ago

Hello everyone and welcome to another blog post related to my trip to Crete, Greece back in September. I am really late with these posts but I still want to share them with you all and I hope you'll still find them interesting.

Falassarna beach is located in Kissamos, almost 60km from the city of Chania and Stalos where we were staying. I've read some articles inline that say Falassarna is the most beautiful beach on the entire Crete island and it's included in the top 10 beaches in Europe! It's not a surprise considering the beautiful sand beaches and clear water. On the photo above you can see the pathway that leads through the restaurant all the way to the beach...

On this particular day when we decided to visit Falassarna, the weather was so nice, sky was clear and after cloudy days where we didn't get to enjoy proper beach days, sun and warm water, we were thrilled to have all of that at such an incredible beach. With our group of eight people we had two rented cars and left our accommodation around 10am and left Falassarna after the sunset.

We got a big sun bed at the first row, right next to the water and it cost us 70 euros which is not that much when it's divided on all of us. We also got a bunch of lazy bags and other chairs that we could move around according to our wish of being in the shade or in the sun. :) Of course, for me having a coffee at the beach was a must and even though I cannot say this was the best coffee I had, it was still nice to enjoy on a sunny day.

Once it was time for lunch, we decided to go to the nearby restaurant (same as the beach) where we found a really nice spot for our big group. Once we sat down, we were told they have two menus - one is the proper restaurant menu for the place we were sitting at and second is their "beach menu" so if we want that we would have to move to another part of the restaurant. It's pretty much all at the same space just two different sides. Since we already found a good spot, we decided to stay there but ones we got the menu, it was full of dishes we were not familiar with. Pizza, gyros and those kinds of food were on the beach menu and it took us a while to decide what to get. I went for mashed potatoes and some kind of sausage and with two other friends I shared Crete salad and french fries. Just by looking at the size of the meal I thought it might not be enough since I was pretty hungry but it was really filling and so yummy!

After lunch we headed back to the beach and that's when I took this photo looking at the restaurant and the mountains behind. I loved this combination of scenery and I think it adds so much to Falassarna being the best beach in Crete.

I felt so much gratitude during this entire trip because it has been years since I went to the sea and beach and when I find myself surrounded by the incredible beauty of nature, I always take a moment to appreciate it, really be present in the moment and express my gratitude for the experience. Crystal clear water, sunshine and sandy beaches are forever my favorite place to be!

As the sun was setting, we went all in with posing and photo taking, haha. Photo on the right was taken by my friend as I was taking photos of other friend.

Watching the sunset was pure magic and these photos could capture just a small piece of beauty we got to witness. It was our intention to stay here and watch the sunset as some of my friends who already visited Crete did this couple of years ago so we easily agree to share this experience together.

Even now looking back at these photos I am super grateful for these two weeks spend in Greece and this amazing day at Falassarna. Since we are in the middle of the winter here in Serbia, I am already excited for summer - in the meantime I still have a couple of posts to share from Crete so stay tuned...

Thank you so much for reading and being here! :)
