Hello everyone, how are you? Recently, I visited this church, twice. Hahaha, the first time, there was a tent that made me unable to see the beauty of this church. So, I came twice. The name of this church is GPIB Jemaat Koinonia which is located in Jatinegara.
This church is one of the oldest churches in Jakarta. At first glance, this building looks like other buildings in the Jatinegara row. The location of the church is right across from the Matraman bus stop. In the past, this place was a historical place in East Jakarta. Not far from the post office that I told you about. This church is a church for Protestant Christians.
How was this church first built? From the tour I took, this church was built before Indonesia's independence, precisely on March 28, 1889. This church had undergone renovation and is now a cultural heritage building owned by the Indonesian government. Why was this church built? In the past, many churches were built in Batavia. Meanwhile, outside Batavia there were no church buildings. Jatinegara used to be an area outside Batavia.
From the information I got, the building became an important building in the development of Jakarta City. Judging from the authenticity of the building, this place or church is still very well maintained like the original building. However, this church is not yet open to the public who want to visit independently.
This church also experienced a pandemic, where there were restrictions on worship for its congregation. For the architecture of this place, it is very different from other churches such as in the Gambir area. The shape of this church is influenced by geometric rules, that's what I got during the tour.
This church also has a yard, but it is not too large. The design of this church is not too complicated, different from other churches. This church, although it looks small, has three floors. I don't know what rooms are in this church, however, this church still feels magnificent. That's all I can tell you. See you in another story.
