Hello to all of you who like to travel and know every corner of the world!
Today I am going to tell you a little bit about my visit, as always express to the city of León.
León is a province located in the autonomous community of Castilla y León, which is situated in the northwest of Spain. In this province there are many villages and the city of Leon which is where we went to spend the day.
I was born in a very small village in the north of Leon, and on this trip we were heading there, but we wanted to make a stop in the city first, since my boyfriend and I didnt know the city. This way we could make one of our express visits and stop for lunch and rest since we were coming from La Rioja which is 3 hours away.
A few days before going, we looked for the most beautiful places in the city on the internet and its location to be able to make a tour in the shortest time possible and thus be able to see more things.
When we arrived we parked in a subway parking in the center of the city and as soon as we got out we saw one of the buildings we wanted to see and coincidentally the most beautiful for my taste.
It was the "Casa Botines" or "Botines House", a building that was made by the famous architect Antonio Gaudi, and it is really a museum based on the conservation, exhibition and research of all the artistic heritage of the area.
We could not see it inside, but from the outside it looks very nice, elegant and stately, like a touch of a palace or castle.
Right next to it was the City Hall, which is another old building with history, but there was a group of people with a tour group and I could not take good pictures so on the way back I could take a picture with less people.
Seeing that I could not take pictures of the town hall we decided to continue walking around that area since there was everything we wanted to see.
By luck we found another of the buildings we wanted to see, but we did not add it to the list and it was the Basilica of San Isidoro.
I'm not much for going to see churches, but the truth is that it is a very old building with a lot of history and that makes it nice too.
We arrived at a pretty nice park, it had nothing to highlight or say that was different, but it looked clean and with a good atmosphere.
In that same area where we were walking is where the whole area of the wet neighborhood was, an area of bars where you go for tapas, which are like small portions of different stews or meals.
While we were walking around looking for the first bar to have a drink, we found a graffiti that we liked a lot and more considering that it contrasted a lot with the area that was the oldest part of the city. The pity is that there was not a good angle to take a picture without seeing the metal fence.
The first bar in the wet neighborhood area that we decided to enter was one whose main dish was the potato omelette, something very common here in Spain but everyone likes it in a different way.
In this bar they made the omelets on the spot, and there was not only the classic potato omelet, but there was also a variation with cheese and ham, or spicy.
It was decorated inside as if it were a chicken coop, with hens and decorative baskets with eggs, and implying that their products were farm products and as natural as possible.
We ordered two summer reds each, which is a red wine drink, with soda, lemon and ice, and two "pinchos" or servings of regular tortilla de patata. It seemed extremely cheap to me. Then we found out that in that whole area of bars they only charge you for the drink and the tapa or portion you order is free.
I like my omelette more cooked but the truth is that it was very good.
So we went to different bars where we ordered a wine and they gave us a free portion of what they had on the menu. Then you could order other things to eat and pay for them, but we didn't need to get so much wine and free tapas with local products.
When we couldn't eat any more we decided to go for a walk and look for the famous Cathedral of Leon.
And obviously we took the typical picture that every tourist takes with the sign of León and the cathedral behind.
The only bad thing about this visit is that it was very express, and now I want to go back to continue to know the city, and especially to have some good wines with delicious tapas.
Leon is not only a very beautiful city with history, but it is also cheap to eat even in the center or tourist areas as it is where this offer applies that with all the drink you get something to eat.
I recommend 100% to make a visit even if it is express as we did.

Hoy os voy a contar un poco sobre mi vista, como siempre exprés a la ciudad de León. León es una provincia que se encuentra en la comunidad autónoma de Castilla y León, la cual se sitúa en el noroeste de España. En esta provincia hay muchos pueblos y la ciudad de León que es donde fuimos a pasar el día. Yo nací en un pueblo muy pequeño del norte de León, y en este viaje nos dirigíamos ahí, pero quisimos hacer antes una parada en la ciudad, ya que no la conocía ni yo ni mi novio y así podíamos hacer una de nuestras visitas exprés y parar para comer y descansar ya que veníamos de la Rioja que está a 3 horas. Unos días antes de ir, buscamos los sitios más bonitos de la ciudad por internet y su ubicación para poder hacer un recorrido en el menor tiempo posible y así poder ver más cosas. Cuando llegamos aparcamos en un parking subterráneo en el centro de la ciudad y nada más salir ya vimos uno de los edificios que queríamos ver y casualmente el más bonito para mi gusto. Se trataba de la “Casa Botines”, un edificio que fue hecho por el famoso arquitecto Antonio Gaudí, y que realmente es un museo basado en la conservación, exposición e investigación de todo el patrimonio artístico de la zona. No pudimos verlo por dentro, pero es que ya desde fuera se ve muy bonito, elegante y señorial, como un toque de palacio o castillo. Justo al lado estaba el Ayuntamiento, que es otro edificio antiguo y con historia, pero justo había un grupo de personas con un grupo turístico y no pude sacar fotos buenas por lo que a la vuelta pude hacer una foto con menos gente. Al ver que no podía hacerle fotos al ayuntamiento decidimos seguir andando por esa zona ya que estaba todo lo que queríamos ver. De casualidad encontramos otro de los edificios que queríamos ver, pero no lo añadimos a la lista y era la Basílica de San Isidoro. No soy mucho de ir a ver Iglesias, pero la verdad es que al fin de cuentas es un edificio muy antiguo y con mucha historia y eso lo hace bonito también. Llegamos a un parque bastante bonito, no tenía nada que se pudiera destacar o decir que fuese diferente, pero se veía limpio y con buen ambiente. En esa misma zona por donde estábamos paseando es donde estaba toda la zona de barrio húmedo, una zona de bares donde se va de tapeo, que son como pequeñas raciones de diferentes guisos o comidas. Mientras dábamos una vuelta buscando el primer bar para tomar algo, encontramos un grafiti que nos gustó mucho y mas teniendo en cuenta que contrastaba mucho con la zona que era la parte más antigua de la ciudad. La pena es que no había un buen ángulo para poder hacer una foto sin que se viera la valla metálica. El primer bar de la zona del barrio húmedo al que decidimos entrar era uno que su plato principal era la tortilla de patata, algo muy común aquí en España pero que no a todo el mundo le gusta igual. En este bar hacían las tortillas en el momento, y no solo había la clásica de patata, sino que había alguna variante con queso y jamón york, o con picante. Estaba decorado por dentro como si fuese un gallinero, con gallinas y cestas con huevos decorativas, y dando a entender que sus productos eran de granja y lo más naturales posibles. Pedimos dos tintos de verano cada uno, que es una bebida de vino tinto, con gaseosa, limón y hielo, y dos pinchos o raciones de tortilla de patata normal. Me pareció extremadamente barato. Luego nos enteramos de que en toda esa zona de bares solo te cobran por la bebida y la tapa o ración que pides es gratis. A mi me gusta la tortilla más hecha pero la verdad es que estaba muy buena. Así fuimos a diferentes bares en los cuales nos pedíamos un vino y nos regalaban una ración de lo que tenían en carta. Luego a parte se podían pedir otras cosas para comer y se pagaban, pero no nos hizo falta entra tanto vino y tapa gratis con productos de la zona. Cuando ya no podíamos comer más decidimos ir a dar una vuelta y buscar la famosa Catedral de León. Y obviamente nos hicimos la típica foto que se hace todo turista junto al cartel de León y la catedral detrás. Lo único malo de esta visita es que fue muy exprés, y ahora tengo ganas de volver a seguir conociendo la ciudad, y sobre todo para tomarme unos buenos vinos con tapas muy ricas. León no solo es una ciudad bastante bonita y con historia, sino que es barata a la hora de comer incluso en el centro o zonas turísticas ya que es donde se aplica esta oferta de que con toda la bebida te regalan algo para comer. Recomiendo 100% hacer una visita, aunque sea exprés como hicimos nosotros.

I love how they offer free nibbles with drinks, I think they also do it in Italy, when I went to Bologna some years ago. This is definitely an incentive to go visit Leon some time, as well as it being a city I've never been before
There are many parts in Spain that you get a free "tapa" with your drink, but in my opinion you can eat better in the north ☺️.
I've read some post of Bologna in Italy and I read that it was very cheap go to eat there and a lot of good things. I want to go there as soon as was possible.

I don't know much about architecture but I like seeing buildings with history.
I like find out the differenced between different villages or cities oldest buildings.
But what I like the most is gastronomy another very tasty culture.

noahpsique your trip was very attractive, quite comprehensive for such a short time, I really liked the cathedral of Leon, but the other buildings are also nice, there are very similar things in them in Cuba, the Spanish influence in our architecture is noticeable. I loved that about the free tapas🤣 it's like to visit all the bars you can, to appreciate the typical food at no cost, that's very original, if they do it in Cuba we ruin it in a minute. Si, yo no sé mucho de arquitectura peroe gusta mucho ver edificios antiguos y con historia, por eso soy más de ir a pueblecitos donde casi todas las casas, iglesias y demás construcciones siguen iguales a hace siglos y comparar su arquitectura o estilo con otros pueblos.
Me han dicho que cuba es precioso me gustaría poder it algún día.
Sin duda para mí lo mejor de viajar es conocer la gastronomía del lugar y sus platos típicos ya que también tienen historia y si encima puedes comer gratis mejor que mejor.
Eso sí hay que tener cuidado con tanto vino y tapa que al final uno acaba perjudicado jaja.

Son edificios bonitos si, pero me gustó más la comida y que salió muy barato si te soy sincera.
Me gustan más los pueblitos rurales que son igual que hace siglos.
