We met Brad Pitt's horse in Turkey!

in Worldmappinlast year

Hi friends, today we arrived to the wonderful historical city of Çanakkale! I mentioned about this city earlier and finally we are here. Earlier we were here too and visited the Marine Museum. But that was more than a year ago. The city is located on the very seashore and there is a long promenade, where various stalls with street food are chaotically arranged. Let's get started!

To get to Çanakkale we needed to take a ferry, which leaves from the town of Eceabat, about which I told in the previous post. The ferry runs every hour, which is quite convenient, and the journey itself takes 20 minutes.

The weather was sunny but a bit windy. It was especially felt on the second floor of the ferry, where the wind just blew us off the feet. Thankfully, there is a small indoor hall where you can drink tea and admire the beautiful view through the window.

We started our walk from the shopping street where you can find various stores, cafes and restaurants. This street is always full of people with heavy bags after a successful shopping trip. I was also hoping to find something interesting, but except a beautiful cup I bought nothing.

We came with the goal of finding a famous cafe that has been serving a traditional Turkish dessert for over a hundred years. And we did it! The window of the cafe was decorated with appetizing sweets, for which we came here. There is not much choice, but that is the main point of this cafe.

Not changing their traditions, they serve peynir helvası, a dessert made of Turkish cottage cheese, butter, semolina and sugar. If you wish, you can add a scoop of natural vanilla ice cream. The town of Çanakkale is famous for this dessert and everyone who comes here must try peynir helvası in the most famous cafe BABALIK TEKİN PEYNİR HELVASI.

Then we decided to take a walk along the seaside promenade. Small boats bobbing on the sea waves, seagulls crying and circling overhead, children riding bicycles and eating sweets. This Sunday is a day of rest for everyone. I am a very observant person, I am always interested in looking at the people around me and marveling at their uniqueness.

There are so many different cafes and restaurants for every kind of taste. Waiters politely invite passers-by to their places and smile. The atmosphere of coziness and kindness is present here at every step. People here are truly happy and love the life they live.

I managed to take a beautiful shot - a little girl in a red jacket with pink cotton candy and chocolate ice cream in her hands. I really love taking such live photos, where you can observe the happiness and joy in the eyes of people passing by.

Here, on the waterfront, you can try all the most popular Turkish street food: roasted aromatic chestnuts, corn in butter, sea mussels with fragrant spices and much more!

Finally, we reached the most important place in Çanakkale - the Troy Horse. It's hard to believe, but this Troy Horse is from the movie "Troy" starring Brad Pitt and Orlando Bloom. All tourists take pictures next to this historical monument.

Also new monuments in the same historical theme have been installed here.

The port in Çanakkale is quite big, there are hundreds of boats of different colors and sizes. These boats are used by fishermen to catch fish in the open sea and then sell the fish to local restaurants and cafes. So you don't have to worry about the quality and freshness of the fish, and seafood in general, at local restaurants.

This tower, which looks like a little Big Ben, is a meeting place. Legend has it that couples in love make arrangements to meet near this tower. I don't know where that legend comes from but it is really very romantic.

It was time to go home. It's 16:52, the ferry has arrived and is waiting for its passengers. We bought our tickets and took our seats with a beautiful view to the sea. I think it is the only view that a human being can never get bored of.

Friends, I hope you were able to get into the atmosphere of the historic and powerful city of Çanakkale. Every time I come here it is like the first time. I find it interesting to walk along the promenade, which I have seen dozens of times, I like to ride the ferry and take photos of the Troy Horse. Tell me in the comments if you have ever heard about this city? I wish everyone a good mood and wonderful travels. See you soon, friends. Bye-bye!

Wow, this is super fascinating! I have heard about this city in the past (since I visited that part of Turkey) but I didn't have idea it was so beautiful.
I immediately recognized that horse!
I watched that movie hundreds of times when I was a kid 😁

Yes, I really enjoy this city!
When I learned that this horse is from real movie I was in shock! 😮

Turkey being a crossroads to many historically, this actually surprised me as to how quaint the streets look offering great variety.

Finding local flavours always high on the list exploring anywhere away from home, the desert looks excellent.

Turkey is famous for its foodies!🍊 There are a lots of different wonderful things that people might like.

For example I found out that Turkish sweet limit is pretty tasty little thing 😋

Cross roads of the world in days of old, many cultures, many tastes to enjoy I am sure.
