Podczas kilku dni spędzonych razem z Angelem mieliśmy pierwszy raz okazję udać się na potańcówkę w rytmach salsy, bardzo ciekawe doświadczenie, oraz poszliśmy na imprezę do grupy ewangelickiej młodzieży przebywającej w Ibarrze na wolontariacie. Poza tym Ibarra okazała się świetnym miejscem wypadowym do miasteczka Otavalo słynącego na całą Amerykę Południową z tego, że to właśnie tam znajduje się największy na kontynencie targ rzemiosła i rękodzieła etnicznej ameryki Południowej. Co sobotę główny plac miasta wraz z przyległymi ulicami zamienia się w jeden wielki targ, gdzie można kupić wszystko co tylko może się kojarzyć z Ameryką Południową. Targ nie jest jedyną atrakcja miasta, bo już kilka kilometrów poza centrum znajduje się piękny park z malowniczym wodospadem Peguche. Z wysokim na 18 metrów wodospadem wiąże się kilka legend między innymi mówiąca o tym, że pod strugą wodospadu spoczywa misa pełna złota której strzegą dwa czarne psy. Jednak psy to nie jedyna trudność do pokonania. Obok miski siedzi diabeł i trzyma w ręce mały talerzyk z piaskiem, a struga wody z wodospadu padająca na talerzyk powoli zmywa piasek, aż do opróżnienia talerzu. Wówczas każdy kto próbuje dosięgnąć misy ze złotem ma pecha, bo diabeł deklaruje, że porwie jego duszę i nici z bogactwa. Tak więc aby się wzbogacić, to trzeba. Wykazać się odwagą i wejść pod wodospad, oszukać dwa psy i jeszcze utrafić w odpowiedni moment nim talerzyk diabła nie zostanie wypłukany do reszty ze znajdującego się na nim piasku.
