After visiting the Apulia windmills, we decided to explore the fishing district. A place that exudes tranquility and authenticity. The transition between the imposing shapes of the windmills and the simplicity of the fishermen's houses is an experience that makes us feel even closer to the history and culture of this little corner by the sea.

Após a visita aos moinhos da Apúlia, decidimos explorar o bairro piscatório. Um lugar que exala tranquilidade e autenticidade. A transição entre as formas imponentes dos moinhos e a simplicidade das casinhas de pescadores é uma experiência que nos faz sentir ainda mais perto da história e da cultura deste cantinho à beira-mar.
Upon arrival we were able to see small boats, all colorful and arranged in a simple but charming way, anchored in the sand near the beach. They look like little treasures of the earth, resting while waiting for the next fishing trip. The bright colors of the boats contrasted with the blue of the sea, creating a view that only a fishing neighborhood can offer. The boats tell stories of rough seas and calm, of long journeys and returns to the safe harbor, where life is renewed every day. When we look at them, we think about the routine of those who live off the sea, the effort and perseverance of those who, with calloused hands, keep the fishing tradition alive.

Ao chegar conseguimos observar pequenos barquinhos, todos coloridos e dispostos de forma simples mas encantadora, ancorados na areia perto da praia. Parecem pequenos tesouros da terra, repousando enquanto esperam pela próxima jornada de pesca. As cores vivas das embarcações contrastavam com o azul do mar, criando uma visão que só um bairro piscatório pode oferecer. Os barcos, contam histórias de mares bravios e de calmarias, de viagens longas e de regresso ao porto seguro, onde a vida se renova todos os dias. Ao olhar para eles, pensamos na rotina de quem vive do mar, no esforço e a perseverança daqueles que, com mãos calejadas, mantêm viva a tradição da pesca.
Further ahead are the fishermen's houses. Each house has its own personality, some of them with small vegetable gardens or flower pots in the windows, the walls, a little worn by time and the sea air, seem to hold the secret of the generations that lived and live there, working hard and coexisting with the sea as their source of sustenance. The neighborhood's narrow, quiet streets invite you to take a long walk, as if each corner had a unique story to be discovered.

Mais à frente as casinhas dos pescadores. Cada casa tem a sua personalidade, algumas delas com pequenas hortas ou vasos de flores nas janelas, as paredes, um pouco desgastadas pelo tempo e pela maresia, parecem guardar o segredo das gerações que ali viveram e vivem, trabalhando arduamente e convivendo com o mar como sua fonte de sustento. As ruas estreitas e tranquilas do bairro, convidam a uma caminhada demorada, como se cada canto tivesse uma história única a ser descoberta.
Small felines, with fur ranging from gray to white, hopped from one side to the other, with the curiosity typical of animals still exploring the world. Some, more daring, approached us looking for affection or perhaps just to investigate what was going on.

Pequenos felinos, com pelagens que variavam entre o cinza e o branco, saltitavam de um lado para o outro, com a curiosidade típica dos animais que ainda exploram o mundo. Alguns, mais atrevidos, aproximavam-se de nós em busca de carinho ou talvez apenas para investigar o que se passava.
As we walked, we could feel the gentle sea breeze caressing our skin and the sound of the waves gently lapping against the sand. The smell of fish, mixed with the salt of the sea, filled the air.

Enquanto caminhávamos, podíamos sentir a brisa suave do mar a acariciar a pele e o som das ondas a bater suavemente na areia. O cheiro do peixe, que se misturava ao sal do mar, invadia o ar.
It is a place where tradition is preserved and where, at the same time, the beauty of the daily life of those who depend on the sea to live is celebrated. If Apulia has something special, it is precisely this contrast between the harshness of fishing life and the lightness of the charm of a place that invites us to live each moment to the fullest.
