In the north of the autonomous community of Extremadura lies one of the most popular and well-known valleys in this region of Spain, the Jerte Valley. It takes its name from the river that over the centuries has been changing and carving out the spaces between the mountains of this Extremadura region. My travels through this region have led me to discover many of these charming little towns full of tradition and the legacy of human adaptation to these places on the globe. That day I left the city of Cáceres, capital of the province of the same name, to head along the national highway N-110 and get to know all these corners of the north of the province, in this case it was the town of Casas del Castañar.
This area is the beginning of one of the most important mountain ranges in the country and along its route there are many villages settled. After travelling along local roads for a good stretch I arrived at the town. The first thing I did was to stay and have a starting point, gathering information to begin the walk through the town. This town takes its name from the chestnut forests and drying sheds that the inhabitants of this region have been exploiting since ancient times. The existence of wild animals in these areas such as wolves and bears also marked the history of the town and left some fabulous legends and stories on this subject. So among chestnut trees and cork oaks I began the route through the town first heading towards its centre, the church and its square.
The tour of the houses in El Castañar took me to the very well-kept and preserved 16th century church of San Juan Bautista. The history of this village is closely linked to some events in a previous town that was on the banks of the river. It seems that abandonment for different reasons and the persistence of a priest in staying was the key to it not disappearing completely and merging with another that was beginning to flourish to form Casas del Castañar. The architecture of the houses is fabulous, with their facades and balconies clearly showing the type of old construction in this rural area of the Jerte Valley region. Stone and wood are its main representatives and reflect a way of living that is respectful of the environment and also blends in with its surroundings.
Life in this area, although difficult due to the weather conditions, is simple. During this walk I was breathing in the air of tranquillity and peace that this place offers and that makes it a different adventure in terms of its tourist appeal. For some time now, these lost and remote places in the country have become clear examples of sustainable, economic and quality tourism. Both its tourist apartments and local gastronomy, its sea of tranquillity and its mountainous and wooded landscapes make them another way of living and getting to know places full of charm.

Hi, nice post very beautiful photos.
thanks for supporting my posts. I am wondering if delegating some HP to Visualblock is how I can do that. Shall I do that #visualblock community? greetings.
greetings.

The project does give you weekly benefits in the form of Hive as payment for your contribution. Our votes do not influence this possible delegation. I hope to have cleared up those doubts, go to our account and find out about this point of the delegations, greetings @hindavi
Good afternoon there. We have already night here in India. I knew this point. I don't have any specific expectations at the moment, It is the respect. My nature is to be kind to each other and respect those who respect me. That's all.
Yes, I noticed after our time difference, night in your country. What you told me on that point is perfect and we will continue supporting the good work regardless of other considerations. Thank you very much for your time and for being so kind.

Hey I see that many of these villages in Spain do not have many people living in them, or at least that is what I perceive in the photographs, but they are certainly very interesting villages with respect to their architecture and history. I would have no problem to live in some of those villages, life can be more peaceful.
Don't doubt it, they are fantastic places to live, I think like you in this regard. There is a part of a depopulated Spain in many of these small towns. grettings @wilfredocav
