Maimun Palace: Historical Building and Icon of Medan City, Indonesia

Medan is a city located in North Sumatra, Indonesia. Apart from culinary, the ancient buildings in this city are also very interesting. One of them is Maimun Palace which is a relic of the Malay sultanate in Medan, the Sultanate of Deli. Indonesia had many kingdoms in the past. This building has a history and is one of the tourist destinations that can be visited if you go to Medan.

The building has yellow and green colors. This building has a unique architecture that reflects the fusion of various cultures, such as Malay, Indian, Middle Eastern and European.

Maimun Palace is divided into 3 parts, namely the main, left wing, and right wing. Maimun Palace used to be the center of government as well as the Sultan's residence. But now Maimun Palace is a museum and tourist attraction.
I didn't go inside the palace because it was very crowded.

The yellow color that dominates Maimun Palace symbolizes glory and prosperity, as well as the characteristics of the Malay tribe. The green color also has an important meaning in the philosophy of Maimun Palace. Green, which is abundant in many parts of the palace, represnt divinity.

There were a food festival on the palace grounds. There were various food and drink booths and I decided to have a look and was attracted to this sweet food booth. Waffle with ice cream topping on it.

Everything from snacks to heavy meals were here. They have also provided some simple rides from kora-kora to ghost house. But they all operate at night. So there were no games to do yet.

It was raining briefly, making the ground a little muddy.
Not far from the Maimun palace is a magnificent mosque that has become an icon of Medan as well. Mesjid Raya Al - Mashun or Al Mashun Grand Mosque. This mosque, which was built in the early 1900s, still stands strong today. The mosque has an octagonal shape and has wings in the south, east, north and west.

Besides being the center of Muslim worship in Medan, Al-Mashun Grand Mosque is also a tourist attraction that is always crowded with domestic (local) and foreign tourists because of its strategic location in the middle of the city and not far from Medan's icon, Maimun Palace.

Happy day.

Good morning. Same to you. You're so kind. Lucky to have you in this community 😀

but I think it is very unfortunate that the maintenance of Maimoon Palace is very basic and makes things worse. One of the witnesses of Medan city civilization is here.

Hi, thanks for stopping by my post. That's right. The government pays little attention to historic buildings in Medan City.

This palace looks wonderful. The place is like a complete art picture. The beauty of the place will amaze everyone. It is really a matter of luck to visit this tourist spot. I am amazed to see such beauty. Besides, the journey of travel looks great with such an activity. This palace surrounded by natural beauty looks amazing. Best wishes

Thank you so much 😊
