Following on from the previous post, I must mention that the visit of the Tajik President to Kyrgyzstan was a really important event. The border dispute between Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan had been going on for 34 years, and in 2021 and 2022 there were serious armed clashes, unfortunately with loss of life. In February this year, the two countries reached a historic agreement on border settlement.
PL: Nawiązując do poprzedniego wpisu, muszę wspomnieć, że wizyta prezydenta Tadżykistanu w Kirgistanie była naprawdę ważnym wydarzeniem. Spór graniczny pomiędzy Kirgistanem a Tadżykistanem trwał od 34 lat, a w latach 2021 i 2022 doszło do poważnych starć zbrojnych, niestety z ofiarami śmiertelnymi.
W lutym tego roku oba kraje zawarły historyczne porozumienie w sprawie ustalenia granic.
The next day I went to the State History Museum. The weather was fine, it was sunny and the previously grey buildings looked a bit cheerier.
PL: Następnego dnia postanowiłam wybrać się do Muzeum Historii Kirgistanu. Pogoda dopisywała, było słonecznie, a szare dotąd budynki zyskały weselszy wygląd.

I'm really enjoying the many poplar plantings, they look spectacular.
PL: Bardzo podobają mi się liczne nasadzenia topoli, wyglądają spektakularnie.
Heading towards the flagpole with the Kyrgyzstan flag in Ala-Too Square.
PL: Zmierzając w stronę masztu z flagą Kirgistanu na Placu Ała-Too.
The flagpole is 45 metres tall and the flag is 10 by 15 metres. There's a guard of honour watching over the flag.
PL: Maszt mierzy 45 metrów, a sama flaga ma wymiar 10 na 15 metrów. Przy fladze czuwa warta honorowa.
Unfortunately, I didn't see the monument of Manas in Ala-Too Square. The pedestal of the monument is currently being renovated. The monument has been moved into storage for the duration of the restoration. Looking at how the flagpole with the Kyrgyzstan flag has changed, I expect a great end result.
PL: Niestety, na Placu Ała-Too nie zobaczyłam posągu Manasa. Postument pomnika jest obecnie odnawiany. Pomnik został przeniesiony na czas renowacji do magazynu. Patrząc na to, jak zmienił się maszt z flagą Kirgistanu, spodziewam się wspaniałego efektu końcowego.
State History Museum

In the museum, we can see exhibits from prehistory to modern times: Bronze Age artefacts, ancient coins, artefacts related to the functioning of the Silk Road, collections related to nomadic culture, Soviet times, up to the present day Kyrgyzstan.
PL: W muzeum możemy zobaczyć eksponaty od prehistorii aż po nowożytność: eksponaty z epoki brązu, starożytne monety, eksponaty związane z funkcjonowaniem jedwabnego szlaku, zbiory związane z kulturą nomadyczną, czasami sowieckimi, aż po współczesność Kirgistanu.

PL: Najstarsze siodło w kolekcji muzeum.
On the left you can see a men's saddle (decorated with metal), on the right a women's saddle (embroidered).
PL: Z lewej widzimy siodło męskie (zdobione metalem), po prawej stronie siodło damskie (wyszywane).
I really liked the combination of silver and coral.
PL: Połączenie srebra i koralu bardzo przypadło mi do gustu.
Among the elements, we can see rubles with the image of Tsar Nicholas II.
PL: Wśród elementów możemy zobaczyć ruble z wizerunkiem cara Mikołaja II.

Traditional wall hangings - Tushkyiz (туш кийиз)
The rug is made of embroidered velvet and usually measures 2.5-3 m x 1.5-2 m, with embroidered edges of about 40-50 cm. Each design is unique. During the Soviet era, the tradition of making this type of carpet partially disappeared.
PL: Tradycyjny dywan ścienny – Tuszkijiz
Dywan wykonany jest z haftowanego aksamitu i zwykle ma wymiar 2,5–3 m x 1,5–2 m, a haftowane krawędzie mają około 40–50 cm. Każdy wzór jest wyjątkowy. W czasach sowieckich tradycja wykonywania tego typu dywanów nieco zanikła.

I looked at the exhibits on weaving in particular.
PL: Szczególnie zainteresowały mnie eksponaty dotyczące tkactwa.
But the embroidered fabrics charmed me the most. Photos just can't do their beauty justice.
PL: Ale to haftowane tkaniny urzekły mnie najbardziej. Zdjęcia nie oddają ich piękna.
I had to go straight back to the hotel, I didn't have time to look around. My attention was caught by some pine trees and the look of the pavement.
PL: Musiałam wracać prosto do hotelu, nie było czasu rozejrzeć się po okolicy. Moją uwagę przykuły sosny i wygląd chodnika.
In the evening, we went to dinner and I had the chance to admire more Tushkyiz carpets.
PL: Wieczorem udaliśmy się na kolację i miałam okazję podziwiać kolejne dywany Tuszkijiz.
The next day, I went for a walk around the city. The architecture in Bishkek is really varied. You can see lots of Soviet-era relics. There are many that need to be restored to their former glory. Lots of new buildings are being built too.
PL: Następnego dnia wybrałam się na spacer po mieście. Architektura w Biszkeku jest naprawdę zróżnicowana. Można zobaczyć wiele reliktów czasów sowieckich. Wiele z nich wymaga przywrócenia dawnej świetności. Powstaje również wiele nowych budynków.

STOPI'm delighted that the conflict is finally over. Kazakhstan is such an interesting country. The national clothing of Kazakhstan is so beautiful. I admire how pretty these red jewellery is. They are literal masterpieces. The whole museum itself is so interesting. The rug you showed is so pretty. Their ancient culture is so unique. The colourful yurts, riding the horses, the lifestyle is so free and this is such a whole different vibe from all the other countries (Of course there's some of the neighbour countries that have similar things). I'm so amazed. I think that the Soviet Union made everything so much worse.
