ΣΚΛΙΑ ΤΟΥ ΔΡΟΜΜΜΜΜΜ: A SUNDAY RIDE

in Worldmappin3 years ago (edited)

Hello everyone, I would like to introduce you our motorcycle crew, we are a group of people who love riding motorcycles and travel around, We call our crew ΣΚΛΙΑ ΤΟΥ ΔΡΟΜΜΜΜΜΜ (Sklia tou drommmmmm) which means STREET DOGS but is adapted to the local dialect of Epirus Greece with the M's going for the sound Brummmm, it sounds kind of funny but i like it.
Last month was very cold and rainy for motorcycle rides, last weakend though it was a perfect day with maximun temperature 18°C. I called the crew and we went out for a short ride.

The plan was to hit an uphill full of enjoyable turns which leads to a dirt road were the real game begins.

Our goal to reach Drikos hilltop wear the view is reciprocal after a road full of mud and ditches. The truth is that after a mounth without a sort ride i would love the ground to be drier and at first i was a little disappointed, but on our way to the top the road was getting drier and drier.

Here we are chilling at the hilltop and having fun.The clock writes up 12:00 o'clock and we have 6 more hours of sun to take advantage of. We decided to head downwards to Araxthos river.

On our road to the river we met two old churches made by rocks in the traditional local way people of the area used to built. It is very beautiful when you see building like these last in time.

500 meters before the bridge there was a dirt road on our right hand. Our most common move in these circumstances are to hit the road deadlock or not.So there we go.Not a dead end but at some point the terrain bacame so rought that it would be a little dangerous for me to pass the V-strom without an aluminum skid plate, so we left it unexplored and returned back to the riverside for a lunch.

Lunch time was what we exactly needed after all these hours riding. While we were discussing about the ride and the roads we pass and were the one we left was going, a road that i had seen in a map came by my mind. We had to take the river upstream and it would lead as on the provincial road of Ioannina, Trikala. We love to explore new road and get involved in adventures so we hit the unknown road as soon as we were ready.

And we are back to the road again, back to the civilization. We have 1 hour before it gets dark, our bikes need a proper wash and some chain lubrication, we, on the other hand, need some food (again), a shower and a good rest.
It was a great day, full of dirt, full of smiles and full of joy.
