Farm restaurants in the Western Cape Province.

Here in South Africa I will show you one of the many farm restaurants that we have on the wine route.

Oh yes, we live in a beautiful part of the country and the Western Cape Province is on the Southern tip of the African continent. The main city is Cape Town and the rural areas consist of smaller farming towns that produce wines and many other crops. So there is much of everything over here and the history buffs will find the areas fascinating.
Raw beauty of the many mountains, nature and the oceans dominate and it is a travelers paradise.

Today I will show you a restaurant that we explored on one of the farms in the area and the farm is called Sweetwell. It is on the R44 road between the towns of Somerset West and Stellenbosch, a wine rich area that has a beauty beyond compare. Tourists from many countries can be seen in this area every day, as it is a very popular place to visit.
So come and enjoy the sights.

Look what I found! I was so delighted to see this old gramophone below with the big brass speaker, as we had one on the farm when I was child. Sadly this one is not for sale.
There was even an old 33rpm vinyl long playing record on it's turntable.

There is also a lovely farm stall outside with a range of arty items made by some of the ladies on the farm.

At the side of the restaurant I saw this huge Prickly Pear bush that was tree size. But a slight movement caught my eye below the bush.

Can you believe it? There were three ducks below the bush.

Vineyards all over the place and I think that I told you that many types of wine are produced in the area.

Finally, just to show you the rising moon on the mountain tips that we saw on our way back.

Many brands of wine are produced on the farms and fruits like oranges, lemons, pears and apples are exported in huge tonnages. Strawberries, blackberries and other types of berries are also farmed and the area is a veritable breadbasket. Some farms also have cattle and one farm here breeds the champion race horses. Food and wine are also paired at the many wine tasting rooms on the farms and they grow a variety of olive types.
For nature lovers, this is the place to be as the beauty is in abundance and miles of grape vineyards are surrounded by the valleys and peaks of mountains.

So, I hope that you have enjoyed your visual visit to the Sweetwell restaurant and may everyone have a great day.

Good morning. That's true some places in South Africa are very beautiful. The restaurant looks very modern. I never been there. Also never been to Cape Town. I really want to go there one day.

Good evening and thank you for agreeing about the beauty in this country.
The restaurant has been there for many years and we met the owner of the farm. A delightful lady with many stories about the place.
I hope that you will be able to visit Cape Town some day.

I really wish that I could one day, but with this petrol price today eish.....And everything is getting expensive also though.

That place looks so cool! I can't decide what I loved more the retro items of interior or the outside...

Thank you and we surely enjoyed the visit.
I am more of an outside guy, but yes the retro stuff also had us mesmerized.

Have some !PIZZA

Love the snaps at the interior, oldies but goodies.

Hey @afterglow, here is a little bit of BEER from @papilloncharity for you. Enjoy it!

Do you want to win SOME BEER together with your friends and draw the BEERKING.

Thank you and that is top quality stuff in the interior my friend.

Farm restaurant is really a nice concept. Seems very relaxing and cam in the lap of nature. Charming place and impressive photography.

I agree and it's going to take a long time to visit all of the restaurants on the many farms here. We have only done 6 or 7 thus far and I posted each of them.
Glad that you like the photos.
