Descent from Bhrigu Lake to Gulaba.

Namaste 🙏

Hope you all are doing well!

I’m writing this blog after a while because I was out for another Himalayan adventure about which I’ll be writing soon. This is going to be the last blog of my Bhrigu Lake trek series.

After climbing the peak above the lake, I came back to the lake to enjoy a moment there. I captured this selfie right next to the lake.

We were there for like an hour before we started our descent. One Israeli group also started their descent along with us.

The lake was looking so beautiful and we worshipped the lake one last time before coming back. Those rocks were the place of worship near the lake.

IMG_1339.jpeg

So we started our journey back home and it was a long way to go. For the first part of the journey, we didn’t have our bags as they were in our camps so it was comparatively easy.

IMG_1341.jpeg

But the terrain was not easy at all. We needed to be much more careful during descent on the loose rocks because if we fell, it was gonna be dangerous.

IMG_1342.jpeg

We carefully started walking down on those rocks for about an hour. We needed to rush because we had to get back to our car that evening.

IMG_1344.jpeg

We were already too tired from our past days in the mountains and this descent was getting difficult for us. In spite of that, we kept moving.

IMG_1347.jpeg

Rauli Kholi campsite on our way back

We reached Rauli Kholi campsite after an hour and a few minutes of descent. Now we had to pickup our backpacks from the camps that will make our descent harder.

IMG_1348.jpeg

There were a few horses that were gazing there. They looked beautiful. We felt like we’re in a set of a movie.

IMG_1354.jpeg

The dramatic landscape, sky with clouds and the horses along with the view of Rauli Kholi campsite in the background motivated us to keep on walking.

IMG_1365.jpeg

We crossed Rauli Kholi and reached Bethar Dhar in a short while as there were no loose rocks now. We were jogging down the mountain you can say!

IMG_1366.jpeg

Bethar bushes in Bethar Dhar

These bushes are used as an offering to the holy deities of the Kullu Valley. Dried Bethar is used as an incense.

IMG_1367.jpeg

At this point we were super tired. We were sunburnt from past days of being in the mountains and our legs were shaking. In spite of that, we kept on walking with a smile on our faces as we knew we were gonna make it to our car now and we’ll be home soon.

IMG_1370.jpeg

We didn’t had a lot of daylight left either and we were still at Bethar Dhar. We had to descend 5 kms in 2 hours with super tired legs.

IMG_1375.jpeg

As it was getting dark now, we were also worried about the wind animals that we might encounter on our way back in the jungle.

IMG_1381.jpeg

There was no other option left but to walk as we left all the campsites behind.

IMG_1385.jpeg

We kept on walking and witnessed one of the most beautiful sunset of our lives. Sun was setting behind the mighty Hanuman Tibba mountain and it looked spectacular!

IMG_1386.jpeg

We were able to see the scattered rays of sun over the mountains which looked amazing. We’ve never witnessed such a thing before.

IMG_1388.jpeg

The sun was down and it was getting dark. We were worried about wild animals on our way back but to our surprise, we found a herd of sheep led by two shepherds.

IMG_1404.jpeg

He told us that there’s nothing to worry about in the jungle those days as the wild animals were still in the higher regions. He also told us that our destination was quite near.

IMG_1406.jpeg

We kept on walking for another hour in the jungle before we started to hear the sounds of vehicles in the road.

IMG_1411.jpeg

We were now sure that our destination was quite near and this motivated us even more.

IMG_1412.jpeg

We could see the road at a distance now with our car parked on the side. We desperately wanted to get in our car and get back home.

Finally after hours of struggle, we were in our car. The sense of relief that we got was phenomenal at that time. Our muscles were shaking and our minds stopped working. We couldn’t wait to go home!!!

That’s all for today.

Thanks for your time.
