Namaste 🙏
Thank you for the overwhelming response on my previous post. It means a lot to me, and I’m grateful to be part of this amazing community. Keeping my spirits high for the #winterchallenge by the amazing #worldmappin team, I got mentioned in the last #traveldigest for which I am really grateful.
Today’s post is going to be about something that I’ve been watching since childhood and wanted to go there ever since. It was the time when I got to visit India Gate, it’s one of them most recognise monument of India and is situated in Rajpath (Kartavya Path) in New Delhi.
The best way to discover Delhi is by Metro as I’ve already mentioned in the previous blog, but when you want to go to the places that are a bit far away from the nearest metro station, autorickshaw is the way to go. So we took a rickshaw from the Connaught Palace all the way to India Gate, and it only took us about 10 to 15 minutes to reach there. Our auto rickshaw driver dropped us near the Kartavya Path. When we reach there, there were beating done and no vehicle can enter inside the Kartavya Path.
There was security checking gate from where we passed and we entered the campus of India Gate. They were school kids all around me from different schools. They were having fun exploring India Gate. It’s a go to picnic destination for school kids.
This is the zoomed in photograph of the India Gate that I took from Kartavya Path India Gate looked amazing from there to reach there. We need to cross the main road by taking the subway, and then only we could reach near to the India Gate.
When we reached at the entry gate of the subway, it was no surprise to see a lot of school kids, shouting and enjoying the echo that was coming out of the subway walls. For a moment. I also felt like a kid and I remembered my childhood days and all the mischief, I used to do as a kid Sing all those happy faces of all those little kids made me really happy.
Everything here was really well maintained and was newly constructed. This part of Delhi was super clean with no clutter around. some people have a misconception of India as a Third World country, but nowadays whenever you’re in India especially in Metro, cities of India you won’t ever feel that.
There were a lot of historic and cultural pending is pasted inside the walls of the subway when we were approaching the historic India Gate just after crossing the subway we reached near to the India Gate.
Now let me brief about the history of India Gate to you guys India Gate, also known as the war memorial of India was built somewhere in around 20th century to pay tribute to the soldiers that died during 19 century in different parts of the world. There are thousands of names of the soldiers inscribed in the walls of India Gate that you can see upon taking a closer look.
There was a boundary that prevented anyone from getting near to the India Gate and there is a soldiers who is guarding it all the time. I was able to capture this beautiful photograph from there.
There is a big area that reserved for the crowd who are visiting India Gate, considering the large amount of people that visit here every day, especially the students, the large amount of area is well covered up with gardens and lot of basic amenities and food stalls.
You will definitely fall in love with this place, and you would really love to walk around and regenerate yourself here. As already mentioned in the previous blogs, the best time to visit Delhi is this winter time because only at that time, you’ll be able to explore Delhi in the daytime comfortably.
I tried to capture the names that are written on the walls of India Gate for you guys, as it’s inscribed in the wall is not written with a die or paint, so it’s really hard to see it in photographs, but whenever you are sending their physically, it’s something else, you can see it clearly.
In spite of that, in this close the photo that I have put above, you can see some of the names and appreciate the hard work done by the people who made it possible. it’s just a piece of art and it deserves to be preserved for future generations to see.
It was a perfect warm sunny afternoon in winter season in New Delhi and I was loving each second of it. We spent around 40 to 45 minutes here and took a good walk. The presence of kids all around us made this a happier vibe.
There is a statue of Subhas Chandra Bose ji, who is saluting while looking at the India Gate and it can be seen from in between the India Gate when viewed from Kartavya Path. It’s really well thought and it looks amazing. I have also taken a standard on photograph of Subhas Chandra Bose ji for you guys that you can see below.
In conclusion, when you are up for a quick walk or you have some spare time while you are in Delhi, this is a place to go. You won’t be disappointed after you visit here.
That’s all for today.
Thanks for passing by.
Peace ☮️
