Namaste 🙏

Hope you all are doing great!!!

We went back to our campsite at Chikka from our little morning adventure (which you can read by clicking on the link below), and we collectively planned to go upto Jobra Campsite that day. It was a super sunny day with no signs of clouds anywhere and it was the perfect day to see the rarely seen mountain peaks all around us. As most of the time of the year, those mountains are mostly covered with clouds, we were lucky enough to be there in this short window of time when the atmosphere is dry and sky is super clear and thus it was a perfect time to spot the most mysterious mountain of the Kullu Valley, Mt. Inderkilla.

Some other really cool mountains were also visible that day in their full glory about which I’m gonna write in this blog.

Mountain top where the famous Bhrigu Lake is situated

Our plan was to reach Jobra Campsite which was around 4-5 kms from Chikka and have brunch there. The trail that led there was somewhat tougher than the trail we hiked on yesterday but it was full of some really good views.

Our plan was to stick to the trail and also to each other as we were alone there and the trail was getting dangerous. The trail led its way through the Hampta River and offered some of the best views that I’ve ever seen in my life. There were some trail markings done by stacking stones as you must have seen in other Himalayan blogs too where the trail got wider or we entered a meadow.

The trail led us to a higher region above the riverbed from where we could see the amazing views of the river below us. It was just mesmerising.

There were many small waterfalls on the river too as the terrain got steeper. We needed to be extra careful now as the trail got really narrow.

The sun was shining so bright and was putting life energy onto us. The sight of seeing the sun shining so bright with some of the last trees in the tree line was just out of this world.

The Narrow Trail that led us to the waterfalls—

At this point of time, the rail got so narrow that I got really difficult to walk on it just a few steps from there the trail suddenly got lost and we had to make our way through dangerous rocks. This part was quite challenging and technical and we needed to be really careful about where we put our legs.

The waterfalls—

After crossing the most challenging stretch of the hike till yet, we were rewarded with the most beautiful view of the Hampta River tip yet. It really emphasises the saying that the best view comes after the hardest climb!!!

We looked back to see how much we were inside the valley now. We’ve came a long way and were feeling hungry now but we still had a long way to go until we reached Jobra Campsite.

We saw some of the great views of the mountains and I got the courage to sit at the edge of the cliff for a while too.

Spotting Mt. Inderkilla—

This mountain peak is really special and it’s also called House of Indra Dev as you can already see. It looks like a castle on top of the mountain and it is believed that Lord Indra lives here. This peak has been admitted for centuries because of its looks, and many people have tried to reach here but failed. It looks so close from here, but is actually three mountain ranges away. Many people have lost their lives in attempt to reach there, and therefore, it has become really mysterious mountain peak. It’s believed that when shepherds tried to reach near to the peak, it keeps on getting far away from them.

As you might know that Killa is a Castle in Hindi language and this mountain peak really shows us that. It’s situated at roughly around 6000m elevation and it’s still not summited by anyone!!!

Brunch overlooking Mt. Inderkilla—

After a tiring hike, it was time to have some food now. We had bought some bread, butter, dry fruit, apples, persimmon, cheese and butter with us that we had there under the bright sunshine.

IMG_5044.jpeg

We sat there for a while, before continuing our journey to Jobra campsite admiring beauty of all the high altitude mountain ranges that were all around us!!!

That’s all for today!!!

Peace ✌️
