Namaste 🙏

Hope you all are doing great.

I’m back in the city after spending a month at my hometown. Taking opportunity of my week off during weekend, I decided to explore the Laxminarayan Temple and the areas around it. It is a really beautiful warm and sunny winter day here in Delhi today and it looks like a perfect day to explore the city and walk around. So I hopped off at Ashram Metro Station and started walking from the Metro station towards the temple. It was a walk of around a kilometre from the metro station towards the temple.

Laxmi Narayan Temple also known as Birla Temple was built in 30s, and it is a temple built by the Birla family. That’s why it’s called Birla Temple. Mahatma Gandhi did the inauguration ceremony of this temple and it was one of the first temples during that time which offered visit of everyone to this temple in spite of their caste, religion, and any other forms of discriminations.

When you will reach near to the temple, you will come across multiple shrines that are dedicated to Lord Buddha, Lord Hanuman, and Lord Shiva. Because of all this, this temple is one of the major attractions of the city and is usually visited by a lot of people every day.

The Buddhist Shrine

While I was walking in front of the Buddhist shrine, I managed to capture this beautiful Photo which you can see above with perfect timing. In this photograph a Mahatma can be seen standing in the middle of the temple and that’s looking very dramatic.

The area around the temple and the shrine is super clean and pure. The positive energies can be felt throughout the area while you’ll be walking on the street. Even by looking at the photographs, you might get a glimpse of the vibe I am talking about.

After walking across the shrine, now you can see the main temple in its full glory. The first thing that you will notice when you’ll see the temple is the Shikhras of the temple. The Shikhras are the tallest parts of a temple and the literal meaning of Shikhar is a mountain peak. So it makes sense to call the peak of a temple, Shikhar..

Now in the photograph above, you can see the entry part of the temple. There is a blue board pointing towards the entry of the temple. This temple is dedicated to Lord Lakshmi Narayan that is synonym of Lord Vishnu. So it’s a lord Vishnu Temple.

The architecture of this building is modern Indian architecture style and is heavily influenced by the Swadeshi moment of 20th century. The whole temple is carved with many carving by talented craftsmen and the tallest part of the temple is about 150 feet tall.

While walking around the temple campus, we could see tourist from all walks of life and multiple nations present there. There were children and olden people too present there and everyone there was there to take the blessings of Lord Vishnu.

IMG_7535.jpeg

The temple is very accessible and is situated in the middle of the city. It’s quite near to the Connaught Place and is towards the west of the Connaught Place. There are multiple tour packages which offer the visit to this temple and also the others present in the city that tourists can avail.

IMG_7536.jpeg

Also, there are plenty of E-rickshaws present outside the temple that can easily take you to the Metro Station at a nominal charge. They hardly charge ₹10 person and they will drop you to the nearest metro station, and from there, you can go anywhere throughout the city.

IMG_7537.jpeg

I felt so peaceful after visiting there, the vibe of this place resonated well with me, and I recommend this to everyone. I visited here during morning hours, so it wasn’t very crowded, but in evening time, especially in weekends, it might get a little crowded.

IMG_7538.jpeg

The area outside the temple is just perfect to stroll around as it is covered with trees, and the pathway is really well built. I walked there for sometime and also sit there for 5 to 10 minutes before getting back to the Metro station.

That’s all for today.

Thanks for passing by.

Peace ☮️
