Instead of heading back home, I decided to walk by the beach and see what's in store for me for my first morning in Dahican. I know! I woke up so early to catch a flight and normally, I'd be sleepy and tired for another tour much so a walking tour. But my bed can wait; no time to waste when you're in nature's paradise like Dahican.
The motorcycle dropped me off in the street leading to my homestay; I walked towards the beach and found myself another perfect spot to watch Dahican's unbelievable tropical beauty. It's surprising to see only a handful of people in the beach; it's a Saturday and if this was in Cebu (especially Moalboal), the beach would be packed with hundreds of both locals and foreigners as early as nine (9) in the morning. The empty and peaceful Dahican beach was such a pleasant surprise.
I met a few tourists and had a quick chat with them; they're mostly from Davao and wanted to spend the weekend here. They went back to their bungalow and I was left all by myself. I decided to stroll towards Dahican Surf Resort to see more of Dahican Beach's morning glow.
A few minutes in the walk, I stumbled into what appeared to be a surfer's haven. I spotted both elite and beginner surfers trying to make the most out of the friendly waves. Later on, I learned that this spot is one of the best spots to surf in Dahican.
I was intrigued with what else Dahican Beach offers so I continued my morning exploration. It was one of the nicest walk I had in months; it was hot but not to the point that it'd burn my skin. Just the perfect weather to take a stroll by the beach. I ended up somewhere less touristy. Coconut trees, mangroves and other trees lined up the shore and made for a perfect spot to hide from the sun's warmth. There I enjoyed a moment of blissful silence; aside from the occasional whistling of leaves and the loud crashing of the waves, there was total silence.
I sat there for sometime with two other locals who were drinking alcohol (a local one which we call tuba). I don't know if it's a usual practice here in Dahican; it was too early for a drink but who am I to judge, right? They looked like they were having the best day of their lives just chilling, talking and laughing by the beach. I hope they were'nt able to smell jealously; I was envious of the company they had.
Where I stayed
Hours later the trees were no longer effective in shielding me from the harsh sunlight. It was time to take shade elsewhere. I came home to an empty and serence Surf Village. If there's one thing I love about the place I rented for two nights, it was its location. It might be tucked in a foresty part of Dahican away from the hustle and bustle but it's also a walking distance to the beach. I definitely got the best of both worlds.
By the time I arrived in my homestay, the weather took a huge turn. It drizzled the entire afternoon leaving me with the only right decision: to stay home and immerse myself in silence. I slept in a hammock outside my room and spent the entire afternoon listening the birds' organized chirping, the sound that tens of bamboos created when they swayed back and forth and the slow but steady dropping of the rain in front of me. It was cold but everything else around me made me feel otherwise.
Afternoon stroll by the beach
Late afternoon called for another walk in the beach. This time I was determined to reach DSR again. It was low tide so I had another unique experience walking by Dahican Beach. It was totally different this time; less surfers but more people in the beach doing all sorts of stuff other than surfing.
Guess what? I found myself in DSR again. For some reason, I always end up getting free stuff during my backpacking. This time, I got free food and free booze in a company of locals who kept me entertained the entire night.
A perfect day does exist and sometimes, just sometimes, it could be the chillest yet best day ever. Always grateful for each opportunity to travel, try new food, meet new people and explore places outside of my hometown. ❤

Hey, I swear I thought it was a place in the Caribbeans! Really amazing 😍 just pirates and rum are missing 😁
HAHA It is not @alecaltab. It's from the southern part of the Philippines. Trust me, no pirates in this part of the world and rum? You have money, no problem, you can grab one in the nearest store. 😁
Yes, I saw the map 😁 I knew Philippines a bit but I had no idea that you also had this kind of Caribbean landscapes 😁
About rum, okay, buying it and so on... but isn't it too boring? 😢🏴☠️
