LOMBOK, INDONESIA
Our Best Travel Experience

You are my greatest adventure.

Indonesia will always have a special place in my heart. It was once my favorite Southeast Asian country before I went to Laos.

When someone thinks of Indonesia, Bali always comes first to mind.
It’s because everyone has heard of Bali, but few know of the hidden treasure just a little east of it. And I fell in love with Indonesia for that reason.

I have been to Bali too – it’s truly beautiful. But I think, it’s too mainstream compared to Yogyakarta, Lombok and Komodo Island.

We spent our 10th year anniversary in Lombok – one paradise destination you won’t want to miss.

Selamat datang 👋😄

We flew from Singapore with Garuda Indonesia to Lombok (connecting flight from Jakarta).

From the airport, we hired a transfer that includes private car and speedboat transfer to Gili T.

Gili Islands

We booked our hotel from Island Beach Bungalow which is about 10mins walking distance to Gili Trawangan beach.

We were just kids when we fell in love ~ 🎵🎶

On our first day, we decided to have a chill afternoon walking along the beautiful shoreline, and relaxed dinner by the beach to prepare ourselves for a list of activities we had in mind.
PARADISE: /ˈparədʌɪs/ a place of extreme beauty, delight, or happiness.

We had the entire beach to ourselves!

For our next day, we took the opportunity to do Gili island hopping which includes Gili Meno, Gili Air, and Gili T.

Our kind of Monday blues 💙

The tour covered snorkeling with the turtles and down to the famous underwater sculpture in Gili Meno.

Check out the rainbow-colored fish 🧜‍♀️

It was a tiring yet very fulfilling day to swim and spend in the stunning islands.

If coco is life, you are my coco 😌

On that same day, we checked out from our cutesy hotel to be picked up and transferred to Mt Rinjani base camp.

Mount Rinjani

We didn’t book any accommodation near Mt Rinjani as there was a resting area provided when we booked the Mt Rinjani hike. Different companies offer packages.
It is one of the proper trek I’ve done. I read a lot about it and many have said that it is a difficult climb.
One must be mentally and physically prepared for the mountain. I had to do jog at night and run up and down the stairs for at least an hour every day for about 3 weeks. It was hard for me considering that I NEVER had done any proper exercise in the past. And when I said “never”, it literally meant never. Zero exercise ever.

We opted for the one-day hike to reach the peak.

Trekking Rinjani

We arrived in the base camp late afternoon. We took our dinner and nap before we were picked up by our porter at 11pm. We started our hike in the evening for us to able to see the sunrise in the crater rim.

Difficult roads often lead to beautiful destinations.

The photo we had can’t do justice to how awesome the view was.
I had to say — it is not for the faint-hearted. It took us 16 freaking hours to finish the journey – from 11pm ascend to 6am sunrise (with minimum stopovers: max 20mins resting and crying) and reach the crater summit, and be back to base at 3pm. We were extremely happy that we survived 4 levels of difficulties to reach the top 💪🤨

One decade down;
forever to go.

There was no better way to reward ourselves but to plunge in an icy cold water from Tiu Kelep Waterfalls!

image.png
Wonderfully refreshing 💦

It’s free to go in and to trek down the waterfalls – just be careful as it’s very slippery!

We then went back to the base to freshen up and collect our things to head to Svarga Hotel.

Chillin’ like villains 😏

We spared another day in Indonesia just to relax and enjoy – our “one-day staycation”. We had the whole day to play with our GoPro and watch the sunset in this beautiful infinity pool.

“Hindi daw s’ya under.” 🤪

Terimah kasi, Lombok! I hope you guys, enjoyed reading this post as how we enjoyed visiting this wonderful island!

See you on our next destination 👋😎

hahaha, ang oa ng dating ha. We were just young when fell in love. Anyway, anyway, ayos ang madamdaming pangyayari. hahaha

You're lucky that there's a vacant inn near it where you can rest. But what I found interesting is that statues under the water or sea? As long as its water, it's the same. lol
