Bireuen Cannon and Pavilion

A cannon from the Dutch colonial era remains in Bireuen Regency, Aceh Province, Indonesia.

The combat weapon is now a monument as a historical site, located in the courtyard of the Bireuen Pendopo.

Likewise with the Pendopo, on June 16, 1948 was used as a stopover for Bung Karno (the first President of Indonesia) in running the government for one week there.

Typologically, the Pendopo can be categorized as a colonial building. colonial architectural style building that was used functionally during the colonial period.

It is not known when this building was built. There are also those who estimate that the Pendopo building was built in 1934, the reason is in accordance with the decision letter of the Vander Guevernement General van Nederland Indie 7 September 1934 the contents of the letter regarding the division of Afdeeling Noord Kust van Aceh (North Aceh Regency) into three kewedanan, one of which is Onder Afdeeling Bireuen.

For government purposes, each wedana was given the facility of an official house, a Pendopo (Meligoe) and now the official residence of the Regent of Bireuen Regency.
