For anyone visiting Sharm, this café is definitely on the checklist. Located on a cliff right above the sea, it offers beautiful views and sunsets, and even without that, it’s like out of a fairytale.
The entrance is located on top of the hill, so all you see upon entering is the blue water below, before you notice all the decor that makes this place so unique.
Great espresso with a view. Perhaps the reason why you can find good espresso almost anywhere is that around WW2, Italians formed the second largest expat community in Egypt, after the Greeks. Although I wouldn’t be surprised if the coffee roasting tradition actually travelled the other way.
A friend in Egypt told me that the bedouins get green unroasted beans and do the roasting and grinding right before adding the water to make the coffee on the open fire charcoal. Once the coffee is done, they shred the fiber strings that grow on the bark of the palm trees and use it as a strainer. He said that coffee is very light in colour and taste but keeps you more awake than the coffee we usually drink. They also add dried ginger for some added flavour.
The colors are turning more and more beautiful as the evening approaches.
If you think this looks pretty, wait till you see the photos of Farsha at night.
wonderful spot on this planet
