Hello everyone in today's post I'll tell you what I did yesterday, something much quieter than Saturday also because I was still quite tired from the excursion I had done.
And so with a friend of mine we did something a little more relaxing, we went to Vallerano which is a small town of about 2500 inhabitants in the province of Viterbo, because here every year the chestnut festival is organized, to tell the truth this party lasts almost a month, we went last weekend.
There were a lot of people also because I noticed it because I struggled to find a parking space for the car even if we must consider that the town is really small.
It is nice as a country, and in these parts this festival has been celebrated for many years, also because since 2009 the chestnut that is organically grown here has become a DOP food of Europe, that is a food of protected origin.
During this festival in particular you have the opportunity to taste it simply cooked in a pan or otherwise in other typical dishes that they prepare in these parts.
In fact, the preparation of the chestnut is very simple, because it is practically placed in this large pan, which is installed in the center of the square or under a fire and slowly these chestnuts are cooked and then they can be tasted.
Among other things, during the festival, walks are organized among the centuries-old chestnut groves that have now become a historic site over time because they have many years of life.
However this village is really beautiful, because it has these characteristic cellars, In fact, after I will put some photos, to make you understand that they have been obtained inside the tuff that is they have been dug by hand over the years and there are typical restaurants that make you taste the typical dishes of the area.
Of course I also tried to taste some products, such as the delicious wild boar, which is hunted and also cooked here, but also the many desserts that are prepared with the use of chestnuts.
This place is also a place for mushroom lovers, in fact there were many mushroom vendors but you can also find them here in the hills by walking around a bit.

What a nice village and the way they do things are quite unique and nice.
Yes, a very nice village
Chestnuts! It’s the season~ That place is really beautiful. Though I don’t like eating chestnuts cooked in fire, I like eating them in desserts! 😅
