On a cold winter day, I decided to take a peaceful walk through the visit the charming Chapel of Nossa Senhora do Salto. The quiet trails and the breathtaking views made it a perfect moment to pause, reflect, and appreciate the beauty of the world around me.
The natural park of salto, with its quiet trails and breathtaking views, was my destination for this particular morning adventure. I woke up early, determined to make the most of the stillness that the early hours offer.

I reached the Chapel of Nossa Senhora do Salto. This charming chapel is perched on a hill, giving it a commanding view of the park below. From a distance, its simple yet elegant structure stood out against the natural backdrop.
What struck me immediately was its modest size. Its not a grand or imposing building, but rather a small, intimate space that invites reflection and peace. The early morning light gave it a soft glow.

Cheguei à Capela de Nossa Senhora do Salto. Esta encantadora capela fica no topo de uma colina, proporcionando uma vista privilegiada do parque que se encontra mais abaixo. De longe, a sua estrutura simples, mas elegante, destacava-se do cenário natural.
O que me impressionou imediatamente foi o seu tamanho modesto. Não é um edifício grandioso ou imponente, mas antes um espaço pequeno e intimista que convida à reflexão e à paz. A luz da manhã dava-lhe um brilho suave.
I was pleasantly surprised to find the chapel door open. Often, small chapels like this are locked outside of service hours, so it felt like a privilege to step inside. The moment I entered, I was enveloped by a sense of calm.
The interior of the chapel is as modest as its exterior. The walls are painted in two colours, the lower half in a soft, light blue and the upper half in a clean, bright white. This combination creates a serene and welcoming atmosphere. Despite its age, the chapel is well-maintained, and the simplicity of its design highlights its historical significance.

Fiquei agradavelmente surpreendido ao encontrar a porta da capela aberta. Muitas vezes, pequenas capelas como esta estão fechadas fora do horário de culto, por isso foi um privilégio entrar. No momento em que entrei, fui envolvido por uma sensação de calma.
O interior da capela é tão modesto como o seu exterior. As paredes estão pintadas com duas cores: a metade inferior num azul claro suave e a metade superior num branco limpo e brilhante. Esta combinação cria uma atmosfera serena e acolhedora. Apesar da idade, a capela está bem conservada, e a simplicidade do seu desenho realça o seu significado histórico.
The space was completely empty when I visited. I wandered slowly, taking in the small details. Near the main entrance, I noticed a spot where visitors usually place candles. The candles are often leaned against the door or on small holders nearby, and while none were lit that morning.
I sat on one of the benches for a few moments, simply enjoying the silence. It’s rare to find such quiet in our busy lives, and I let myself fully absorb the stillness.

O espaço estava completamente vazio quando o visitei. Caminhei lentamente, observando os pequenos pormenores. Perto da entrada principal, reparei num local onde os visitantes costumam colocar velas. Stepping outside the chapel, I was greeted by one of the most breathtaking views I have ever seen. From its elevated position, the chapel offers a panoramic view of the park and the surrounding countryside. The River Sousa was visible in the distance, winding its way through the landscape like a silver ribbon.
The sun had fully risen by this point, casting a golden light over the scene. The park, with its mix of open spaces and dense clusters of trees, looked even more stunning from above. The hilltop location of the chapel not only adds to its charm but also makes it a perfect spot for reflection and appreciation of nature’s beauty.
