Starting the day with a walk in Foz, one of Porto most charming neighborhoods. With its stunning views, peaceful gardens, and the soothing sound of waves crashing along the shore, Foz offers the perfect escape from the city hustle and bustle.
It was a perfect sunny day, the kind of morning that beckons you to step outside. Despite having walked this path countless times, each journey feels unique, offering something new to discover. Foz is one of those magical places that manages to be both lively and serene, where the ocean and the Douro River embrace.
I set out early, just after sunrise, as I always do. The streets are still, the air fresh and the world feels like it belongs to you alone. Birds chirped softly as I started walking, their songs mingling with the distant sound of waves crashing against the shore.

Estava um dia ensolarado perfeito, o tipo de manhã que convida a sair. Apesar de ter percorrido este caminho inúmeras vezes, cada viagem parece única, oferecendo algo novo para descobrir. A Foz é um daqueles locais mágicos que conseguem ser ao mesmo tempo animados e serenos, onde o oceano e o rio Douro se abraçam.
Saí cedo, logo após o nascer do sol, como sempre faço. As ruas estão calmas, o ar puro e o mundo parece pertencer-lhe apenas a si. Os pássaros cantavam suavemente quando comecei a caminhar, as suas canções misturando-se com o som longínquo das ondas que rebentavam na costa.
My first stop was the Forte de São João Baptista, a place that never fails to capture my imagination. Built centuries ago, this fort stands as a testament to Portugal's maritime history. Its sturdy stone walls seem to whisper stories of the past of sailors embarking on treacherous journeys and soldiers standing watch over the coastline.
I paused here for a while, leaning against the cool stone walls. The rhythmic sound of the waves and the salty breeze created a moment of pure tranquility. Its incredible how a place can feel so alive with history yet offer such peace.

A minha primeira paragem foi no Forte de São João Baptista, um local que nunca deixa de captar a minha imaginação. Construído há séculos, este forte é um testemunho da história marítima de Portugal. As suas robustas paredes de pedra parecem sussurrar histórias do passado de marinheiros que embarcam em viagens traiçoeiras e de soldados que vigiam a costa.
Parei aqui por uns momentos, encostado às frias paredes de pedra. O som ritmado das ondas e a brisa salgada criaram um momento de pura tranquilidade. É incrível como um lugar pode parecer tão cheio de história e ao mesmo tempo oferecer tanta paz.
From the fort, I continued toward one of my favourite spots in Foz, Jardim do Passeio Alegre. This garden is a true gem, a green sanctuary that offers a delightful contrast to the rugged coastline nearby. As I entered, I was greeted by the sight of perfectly manicured lawns.

Do forte, continuei em direção a um dos meus locais favoritos na Foz, o Jardim do Passeio Alegre. Este jardim é uma verdadeiro encanto, um santuário verde que oferece um contraste encantador com a costa acidentada nas proximidades. Ao entrar, fui recebido pela visão de relvados perfeitamente cuidados.
From the garden, my path took me to the Praia do Carneiro, a beach thats as wild and untamed as it is beautiful. This stretch of coastline is one of my favourite spots in Foz, offering a raw, natural beauty that contrasts with the structured charm of the Jardim do Passeio Alegre.

The beach was bathed in sunlight, its golden sand glistening. The rocks along the shore were damp with sea spray, their dark surfaces gleaming under the sun.

As I made my way back through the streets of Foz, I couldn't help but admire the azulejos that adorn so many of the buildings here. These traditional Portuguese tiles are more than just decoration they're a form of art, a storytelling medium, and a cultural treasure all rolled into one.

This place Foz, is a picturesque neighborhood located in the western part of Porto, Portugal. Situated where the Douro River meets the Atlantic Ocean, Foz is renowned for its stunning coastal views, historic landmarks, and charming streets.
Bordered by golden beaches on one side and leafy parks on the other, Foz is easily accessible from the city center, yet it feels like a peaceful retreat. Its position at the edge of the city provides a serene atmosphere while still being connected to Porto's rich cultural and historical heritage.
