Today, I'm excited to share my recent escapade up the Jewish Mountain Stairs in Porto, a spot that's been on my radar for ages but that I finally decided to explore. This a crisp morning, the sun rising, and a stunning view of the River Douro waiting at the top.
As the sun peeked over the horizon, I found myself waking up early, as usual, ready for another adventure. This time, however, I had a destination in mind that was quite special the Jewish Mountain Stairs, a hidden gem that many people overlook despite its proximity to Porto.

Enquanto o sol aparecia no horizonte, acordei cedo, como sempre, pronto para mais uma aventura. Desta vez, porém, tinha em mente um destino bastante especial as Escadas do Monte dos Judeus, uma jóia escondida que muitas pessoas ignoram apesar da sua proximidade com o Porto.
The route to the Jewish Mountain Stairs took me through narrow streets lined with colorful houses. Each building seemed to tell a story, showcasing the rich history and culture of Porto. I admired the traditional tiled facades, each one unique in its design. The blue and white azulejos were particularly striking, reflecting the sunlight in a way that made them sparkle.

O caminho para as Escadas do Monte dos Judeus levou-me por ruas estreitas ladeadas por casas coloridas. Cada edifício parecia contar uma história, mostrando a rica história e cultura do Porto. Admirei as tradicionais fachadas de azulejos, cada uma delas única no seu design. Os azulejos azuis e brancos eram particularmente marcantes, refletindo a luz solar de uma forma que os fazia brilhar.
Upon arriving at the foot of the stairs, I felt a surge of excitement. The stairs were steep and seemed to rise towards the sky, a challenge that beckoned me. As I took my first steps, I couldn't help but notice the vibrant colours of the houses surrounding me. Shades of yellow, red, and green painted a picturesque landscape that felt like stepping into a postcard.

Ao chegar ao fundo da escada, senti uma onda de excitação. As escadas eram íngremes e pareciam subir em direção ao céu, um desafio que me atraiu. Ao dar os primeiros passos, não pude deixar de reparar nas cores vibrantes das casas que me rodeavam. Tons de amarelo, vermelho e verde pintaram uma paisagem pitoresca que parecia estar a entrar num postal.
The architecture of the houses was also fascinating. The mix of stylessome modern, some more traditional, created a harmonious blend that was characteristic of Porto. As I climbed, I marvelled at the intricate details, from the wroughtiron balconies adorned with flower pots to the ornate doorways that invited passersby to peek inside.

A arquitetura das casas também era fascinante. A mistura de estilos, uns modernos, outros mais tradicionais, criou uma mistura harmoniosa que era característica do Porto. Ao subir, fiquei maravilhado com os detalhes complexos, desde as varandas de ferro forjado adornadas com vasos de flores até às portas ornamentadas que convidavam os caminhantes a espreitar o interior.
It was a sunny day with a mild temperature, perfect for a hike. The sun cast a warm glow over everything, enhancing the colours of the houses and the lush greenery surrounding me. I paused for a moment to soak it all in, taking deep breaths of the fresh air. The sounds of the city felt distant now, replaced by the gentle rustling of leaves and the occasional chirp of a bird.

Estava um dia de sol e uma temperatura amena, perfeito para uma caminhada. O sol lançava um brilho quente sobre tudo, realçando as cores das casas e a vegetação exuberante que me rodeava. Parei por um momento para absorver tudo, respirando fundo o ar fresco. Os sons da cidade pareciam agora distantes, substituídos pelo suave farfalhar das folhas e pelo ocasional gorjeio de um pássaro.
The promise of a stunning view at the top kept me motivated. As I ascended higher, I could already catch glimpses of the River Douro through the gaps between the buildings. The sparkling blue water contrasted beautifully with the terracotta rooftops of the houses below.

The view that greeted me was nothing short of breathtaking. Standing there, I looked out over the sprawling city of Porto, with the River Douro glistening under the sun. The sight of the river winding through the city was mesmerizing.

Even though I had lived near Porto for some time, this was my first experience climbing the Jewish Mountain Stairs. I couldn't believe I had missed this beautiful location for so long. It felt like discovering a hidden treasure, a place where I could escape the hustle.

Apesar de já viver perto do Porto há algum tempo, esta foi a minha primeira experiência a subir as Escadas do Monte dos Judeus. Eu não podia acreditar que tinha perdido este lindo local por tanto tempo. Foi como descobrir um tesouro escondido, um lugar onde pudesse escapar à agitação.
My early morning hike up the Jewish Mountain Stairs was a good experience, filled with stunning sights and the simple pleasure of being outdoors. The vibrant colors of the houses, the impressive architecture, and the breathtaking view of the River Douro combined to create a memorable adventure.
So, if you ever find yourself in Porto, I encourage you to take a morning stroll and climb the Jewish Mountain Stairs. You won't regret it.

A minha caminhada matinal pelas Escadas do Monte dos Judeus foi uma experiência boa, repleta de paisagens deslumbrantes e do simples prazer de estar ao ar livre.
