As I set out for my walk through the Natural Park of Senhora do Salto, I felt a sense of excitement and calm in equal measure. This would be a journey to reconnect with nature, to escape the routine and to find peace by the ever-enchanting Sousa River.

Ao iniciar o meu passeio pelo Parque Natural da Senhora do Salto, senti uma sensação de excitação e calma em igual medida. Esta seria uma viagem para me re-conectar com a natureza, fugir da rotina e encontrar a paz junto ao sempre encantador Rio Sousa.
The day began early! The clock hadn't yet struck 8AM when I parked my car near the entrance of the park. The low temperature was noticeable, my breath visible in the chilly air but it was far from uncomfortable. Instead, I added a layer of charm to the morning. A lightweight jacket was all I needed to feel cozy as I prepared to explore.

As I walked, I couldn't help but appreciate the stillness of the early morning. The only sounds were the crunch of my boots on the trail and the occasional rustle of leaves as a gentle breeze passed through. It was a perfect moment of solitude, the kind thats hard to come by in our busy lives.

One of the most captivating features of the this park is the Sousa River. The river winds gracefully through the park, its crystal clear waters reflecting the vibrant hues of the surrounding vegetation. As I walked alongside the riverbank, I could hear the gentle babbling of the water as it danced over rocks.

Uma das características mais cativantes do deste parque é o Rio Sousa. O rio serpenteia graciosamente pelo parque, as suas águas cristalinas refletindo os tons vibrantes da vegetação circundante. I paused for a moment on one of the small bridges that spanned the river. The view was stunning!!! The Sousa River flow was calm yet purposeful and its banks were lined with lush greenery.

Beyond the river, the trail began to ascend. The landscape transitioned from gentle riverbanks to the rugged terrain of the mountains. Each step brought new views.

The park is a haven for nature lovers. Every corner of the park seemed alive, buzzing with the sounds of birds chirping, leaves rustling, and water flowing.

It was a reminder of how important it is to step away from screens and schedules to reconnect with nature.

As the morning progressed, the sun climbed higher in the sky, and the air began to warm. I made my way back down the trail, retracing my steps but seeing the landscape in a new light. The golden hues of sunrise had given way to the brighter tones of late morning, and the park was beginning to wake up fully.

If you ever find yourself longing for a break from the hustle and bustle of daily life, I can't recommend a visit to Senhora do Salto enough. Its a place where time seems to slow down, where nature’s beauty takes center stage, and where you can rediscover the simple joys of being alive.
