It just randomly show few of the best Restaurants and Cafés to chill out which truly was not my kinda plan so I changed the title that I was searching and made it to "Best historical places to visit nearby...."

That Brought me here!..

The Journey.

Reaching this masterpiece of Architecture was itself a journey it!

IMG_6218.jpeg

  • Me being in Delhi made it easier for me to travel to the place being situated at Nizzamudin East, New Delhi. I took the nearest metro in order to reach to the nearest metro station closer to the destination which was Jor Bagh Metro station Yellow Line.

IMG_6225.jpeg

  • The journey beyond that was quite simple. Took a tuk-tuk auto rickshaw that dropped me of in front of the main gate of the destination.

The magical journey starts now!

IMG_6232.jpeg
The first thing that I saw when I entered the location, There were several gates one after another and the whole area was protected by the mighty walls of stone which were constructed nearly around 500 years back.

IMG_6237.jpeg
The walls which were meant for the protection of the place form the attackers during the ancient time were nearly about twenty feet tall and roughy around three feet in width. That made nearly impossible for any one to cross during that era.

IMG_6227.jpeg
The site now in conserved by some trust in the place that takes care of every minute things in order to preserve this world historical site.

IMG_6238.jpeg
Each of these gateways where named. It was totally a new experience for me visiting this place for the first time in my life. A place about which I had just read about in the history books when I was in school. Never thought of visiting the place back then...
But today was the day!

IMG_6252.jpeg
In this post I will be sharing my personal experience of visiting this place, having little knowledge about the location! Exploring and knowing more about the place and creating a life long experience forever.

IMG_6249.jpeg
A gateway, one after another.
That was all that one could see at the entrance of this masterpiece world heritage site Humayaun's Tomb. Few of the gateways were closed and few of them had a bit of maintenance work going on which was all managed by the local trust.

At almost every corner of the place there were these information boards placed so that the visitors would get a fair amount of knowledge about what they were seeing or were about to see.

IMG_6248.jpeg
A picture depicting information about the gateway.

IMG_6260.jpeg
Maintenance work being done in order to preserve the historical monument.

IMG_6262.jpeg
After crossing all the gateways I finally reached at a point from which the tomb was seen visible. There were a lot of people all excited and enthusiastic willing to see the place, so was me! From this point of sight I nearly thought of running closer to the monument instead of walking slowly making my was through the crowd.. But after all even it was a part of the journey! A crowded one.

IMG_6261.jpeg
*Saw a tiny stall of a person wearing a traditional cap selling books about various monuments of India and Delhi and the books were even in various languages... I had a word with the person and all that he told me was that we should explore the ancient historical wonders and never miss any opportunity to do so..

IMG_6271.jpeg
Making my was through the crown through the main gateway the path lead me to this place! Closer to the ancient fountain which was constructed during the ancient era. The mechanism of the fountain made me wonder that what kind of technique did the ancient people used so that the fountain should function exactly the same as the one that we have now a days usually do! The Fountain was nearly around 500 years old. Late 1500BC

IMG_6275.jpeg
The tomb had water canals situated just right between the each entrance towards the tomb and the details of the construction was just rightly accurate as per the construction of the ear that has no machines and everything was just done by the skilled human beings. From construction of feets and feets tall building to making minute holes on to the rocks and all that art work was seen in this masterpiece of Architecture, The Humayun's Tomb.

IMG_6286.jpeg
It is also believed that among the seven wonders of the world, The Taj Mahal was also inspired by the Humayun's Tomb.

IMG_6287.jpeg
The Architecture of the construction was truely a Masterpiece, all the minute detailings and craving and cuttings done on the hard wall of redstone which was brought all the way from far away places. Just imagine guys that how was it possible to carry all of these in that period of time where there were no such means of transportation that we have now a days.

IMG_6289.jpeg
The addition of marble lines between the fine red sandstone wall was also a masterpiece of Architecture that I believe no one can create something like this now a days that to without the help of technological advancements and advanced machines. The toughness and durability of the walls that made it still look like just as it was a 500 years back was just a mystery in itself.

IMG_6290.jpeg
Reaching closer to the tomb, I came across this main gate of the entrance of the tomb that lead to the entrance of the first floor of the tomb over which the main monument was constructed.

IMG_6293.jpeg
The steps were nearly a feet tall and all constructed of tough rocks, The steps being so steep made it a bit difficult to reach till the first storey of the monument as at certain points we had to take some help of our hands supporting out body just like climbing a rock with huge steps in it.

IMG_6321.jpeg
After crossing the steps I finally reached at this point form which the whole area was seen visible. The garden around the tomb, the other tombs which were present at the location, nearly everything was visible from this point.

I took photographs form various angles so that you guys can get a true picture of what the view form this point really was.

IMG_6333.jpeg
The Inside of Humayun's Tomb looked something like this.

  • IMG_6334.jpeg

  • IMG_6342.jpeg
There were several tombs inside each rooms which were present inside this monument.

  • IMG_6343.jpeg
I didn’t had any information about this which was placed just right above one of the tombs.

  • IMG_6344.jpeg
Gateway to each of the rooms.

  • IMG_6345.jpeg
The Jali which was constructed near the window of this room was such a great piece of artwork which was done on the single piece of rock shaped into tiny holed meant for ventilation and passage of sunlight.

Humayun's Tomb- Outside

IMG_6374.jpeg
This place is such an astonishing destination for the enthusiasts of Articulture as this place being the inspiration of one of the seven wonders of the world. The Taj Mahal.

IMG_6377.jpeg
At almost every corner of the monument these type of spaces were also situated maybe these kind of construction had a significant role.

IMG_6398.jpeg
These was another monument which was seen visible from the main front area of the Humayun's tomb. It was my next go to location when I left Humayun's tomb in order to see that what it was and what significance it had in the Humayun's tomb.

IMG_6456.jpeg

As I stepped outside the Humayun's tomb I saw various other tombs too and they varied in size and shape.

Few of them were a bit broad and few of them were short. I took photographs of all of them as uploaded below.
