It's been long that we last visited this very famous nature park in Mauritius...but once the island is 'back to normal', I will for sure visit it again!
Named La Vanille Nature Park, the park is situated in the southern part of the island - like 20 minutes drive from the Airport.
La Vanille Nature Park is famous for the different animals found there...mainly the crocs...
The park spread over 3.5 Hectares and was created in 1985! And apart from crocodiles, you will also find tortoises, monkeys, bats, deers, geckos, wild boars and carp to name a few!!!
What is also amazing is that you get to discover the different animals in different stages...from nursery to the big adults ones!!!
There is also an insectarium in the park with a collection of more than 23000 species including beetles, butterflies and other insects of all shapes and colors. The collection has some specimens of inestimable rarity, some of which are now extinct.
Colored fish...in ponds...Carps
We have giant aquariums too where you easily get to admire the fishes...
Sad to see monkeys in cages...but for those who have never seen one...this is something spectacular indeed!
Activities offered at La Vanille Nature Park
- The reserve
- The interactive farm
- The insectarium
- The aquarium
- Children’s play area
- Pony rides
- Giant Aldabra Tortoise feeding
- Restaurant
- Souvenir shop
Donkeys and Poneys...well I've never seen any of them around on the island...but at La Vanille Nature Park you get the opportunity to discover them!
These lovely ducks will greet you good bye after your visit...they are located just near the exit!
The park is open every day from 8.30am till 17.00pm!
And after your visit...for the adventurous ones...
You can taste crocodile meat at the park's restaurant signature dish!
But there's also other Mauritian dishes for those not on the adventurous side!!!
Entrance Fee: 7 Usd for an adult and around 3.5 Usd for a child (3 to 12yrs)
If you happen to visit Mauritius one day, visiting La Vanille Nature Park should top the list of places you must visit!
I am sure you will spend a memorable time there!
