**Never in my life have I felt so sick** as I did on a fishing trip I did some time back with my nephews and friends...
Fishing in the deep blue waters...
We had planned to go on a boat ride to the deep ocean, about 10 kilometers away from the northern part of Mauritius, and fish for the day. I was excited to spend time with them and catch some fish, but things took a turn for the worse once we hit the deep blue waters.
Perfect start of the fishing trip...we were all happy and smiling!!!
I am writing about this incident after quite some time later, as earlier today while looking at some past photos, I saw those of that particular fishing trip and said to myself : Let me write on it and at the same time remind myself of the dangers of the sea if you are not used to it!''
As soon as we entered the open sea, strong winds and waves began to rock the boat, and I started to feel suffocated.
A few minutes later, I vomited three times in a row. It was a terrible feeling, and I couldn't eat or drink anything. I also had a massive headache, and all I wanted was to sleep or go back home.
Only those who have experienced seasickness can truly understand how it feels.
I've been fishing in various places for a long time, and I've even gone out into the deep ocean twice before. However, I've never been sick like this before.
It was a new experience for me, and not a pleasant one at all!!!
As I started to feel slightly better, my two nephews began to feel sick too. We spent most of the time sleeping while the others continued to fish despite not feeling great.
Caught some nice fish!
Despite the sickness, we did manage to catch some fish, which made me feel a little better. We caught nine fish in total, mainly red snappers, and we shared them among ourselves to eat during the week.
Check out our catch despite all our troubles!
Don't venture for such fishing trips if you are not used to it!!!
I am not here discouraging anyone to go fishing offshore...
But guys, if you can't handle waves, better don't venture for such activities, I literally felt like I was dying!!! Just imagine!
Otherwise, for those who are used to fishing in deep blue waters and big waves, then fishing near Gunner's Quoin Island is a must.
Both for the fishes and also the beauty around! I'll share some photos below for you to get an idea!
Have you ever been sea sick while fishing or travelling!?
It was a mixed bag of a trip for me. On the one hand, I got to spend time with my loved ones, and we caught some fish. On the other hand, I was incredibly sick for most of the day. The experience was so bad that I'm not sure if I would want to embark on such a fishing trip again.
It's essential to remember that, while fishing can be a fun and enjoyable activity, the ocean can be unpredictable and dangerous, and one must take necessary precautions.
In conclusion, this fishing trip was a learning experience for me. I now know that even the most experienced fishermen can fall ill at sea. While the catch was enjoyable, the sickness was not, and I will undoubtedly think twice before embarking on such a trip again.
Since that incident, I have kind of stopped going to fish!!! This has stayed as a very bad experience and I always think about it!
Thanks for reading and wish you a wonderful day/evening ahead!
Best Regards!

Falling sick on a fishing trip in the middle of a deep blue sea is no joke . Just the sight of those photos and reading your sad Experience is horrible. Your decision to think twice or even stop going to fish is a good one. Enjoy your fish though.
Best wishes.
