SSR International Airport : The one and only Airport of Mauritius!

in Worldmappin8 months ago

Ok this will be a different type of travel post...

We always posts on interesting places to visit in a country on our travel posts, isn't it!?

But before getting to these interesting places, we need to first enter the country/place and most of the time we need to pass through the airport of the said country/place!

Yes...I am here talking about airport...the Airport of Mauritius!

Now before writing further, let me ask this question...

Which countries have the most number of airports in the world!???

As per my research...we have countries with over thousands of airports...many countries with over 400-500 airports too!!!

These numbers shocked me...

Only one airport in my country!!!!

You read that well...in Mauritius we have only ONE airport! The SSR International Airport!

Located in the south west part of the island, we are a tiny ant compared to other countries around the world...

Our airport treats only less than 30 arrivals and 30 departures per day! Compared to the 1000's of other airports!!!

The departure hall!!!

Small...but voted best in Africa for many years!

Despite our size, the SSR Airport has many times been voted as the best in Africa in terms of service, staffs, design, rapidity, cleanliness etc...

Happy to show you around the SSR International Airport

I'll start with the arrival gate....if you are traveling to Mauritius, this is where you will get out after the flight and customs etc...

Smokers love this place...you can smoke here and have places to sit too.

Looking for a taxi!? This is where you will find it...

The arrival gates…this is where you will get the first feel of Mauritius!

Walking from the parking to the arrival gates!

Now...when you are departing Mauritius!

Yesterday I went to drop my brother in law at SSR International Airport, who is traveling back to Morocco after 3 months holidays in Mauritius!

And I seized this opportunity to take some photos and show you where you need to go for your departure flight...our airport is so small that is it so easy to show you via photos...

Take the parking ticket and follow the signage till the departure drop off!

Take your parking ticket and move to departure drop off!

Arriving at the drop off place, unload your luggage rapidly as this is a no parking zone.

We have a lot of parking spaces some meters away from the drop off zone!

Drop Off Area!

Hall A and Hall B

The Hall A is mainly where Emirates operates while Air Mauritius is usually in Hall B. (Both halls are in the same building, next to each other!)

Once you completed the luggage registration and got your boarding ticket, you can move ahead to the Passport Control!

Food corner, last cigarette, money exchange, flight tickets...

Before crossing the passport control, complete everything you need as once you cross there, you can't come back to even smoke a cigarette!!!

We have 2 food corners where you can grab something quickly before getting it! Exchange your last rupees...

Wait for your flight while enjoying the Duty Free shops!

Once you have crossed the passport control, you have nice lounges inside to wait for the boarding...without forgetting the duty free shops to buy some souvenirs before leaving Mauritius!

Once you cross here…you can’t come back for even a cigarette!
Once you cross here…you can’t come back for even a cigarette!

Easy, isn't it!?

As mentioned above, Mauritius has a very small airport, but things are made very intelligently making travelers to cross without too much troubles!

From drop off to passport control took us 15 minutes only. Of course on busy days it can take around an hour maximum!

Voila friends, a little glimpse of the Airport of Mauritius from my lenses dropping my brother in law!

Hope this will be useful for future travelers coming to Mauritius!

Thanks
