Caluya Shrine | Christ the Redeemer

in Worldmappin3 years ago

Hello Hivers! 😊

I've been meaning to write about this place for a long time. This is one of the top tourist attractions when visiting my home province of Misamis Occidental in the Philippines.

Welcome to Caluya Shrine | Christ the Redeemer.

Yes, it is like Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Caluya Shrine is only 15-20 minutes from the town center. You can take a motorcycle or tricycle cab from the nearby town, or you can bring your private vehicle.

The statue of Jesus Christ is a stand-in on top of a hill overlooking Sapang Dalaga Misamis Occidental's beautiful beach.

Kublai, a Mindanao-born sculptor, created the shrine, which stands about 45 feet tall.

It was in the middle of the day when I visited the shrine because I was on my way to the city and wanted to get some photos for this blog.

When I arrive, there are a few people assigned to tell you where you can park and where to sign your name, then pay at the entrance.

The entrance fee to the shrine is 30 pesos per person (0.58 USD).

I took a motorcycle there, and, after paying the entrance fee, I headed up. There will be a flight of stairs to climb, and as you ascend, you will be amazed at the panoramic view from the side to side. The ascent isn't all that difficult. Each side has a mountain and an ocean.

I remember how hot it was that day, and how we were the only ones in the shrine. I did not mind the heat anymore and just ended up enjoying the moment and the view.

Locals come to visit to light candles and offer prayers and wishes. Then enjoy the breathtaking view from the top.

People come here for the floating cottages at the bottom too. If you want to rent cottages to enjoy the beach with your family and loved ones, there will be boats available for transport.

If you want to come visit, don't hesitate to ask the locals. People in these areas are happy to give you directions on how to get there. 😍

Thank you so much for taking the time to read this blog. Till the next one. ❤️
