While out doing some holiday shopping last week, I came across a rather curious shoppe...
I've never made it to Cleveland Curiosities before, located on Madison Avenue in Lakewood, Ohio- just west of Cleveland's border.
Lets take a tour of this interesting destination shop together!
You can't find any candles or mugs in this store-this adventure isn't for the timid!
At first, it may seem as sime kind of taxidermy shoppe-but it gets a little more exotic than that!
...Perhaps this is the destination for the "eccentric" on your list!
Mysterious medical oddities on the wish list of someone you love? look no further!
You definitely need the 360 degree view!
A happy little fox perched in the corner
They even have a children's section! what kid didn't have a covid virus or stuffed skull on their list?...I hear its the new tickle me elmo this year!
Did your loved one already get the full skeleton and Jesus on the double cross last year? Well... we'll just have to keep on looking then!
A few monster-y themed contemporary gifts are scattered throughout the store...but the highlights definitely remain the vintage oddities.
Is the full skeleton or bear out of your price range? Perhaps you wanna go with the shark "jaws..."
Some mad scientist jars... I'm not sure I want to know whats going on here, exactly.
They even have the little mermaids less popular cousin. I wonder why she never was as popular as Ariel? probably because her movie went straight to VHS.
The two faced cow is pretty cool, though. One has to wonder if it is the real deal, or a "creation" of some old-fashioned con artists-I'm 60% sure that the mermaid isn't an authentic mermaid.
This giant hippopotamus skull is pretty gnarly...it would make quite the conversation piece on your coffee table!
I forget...is this Slim Goodbody or Inside Outside Boy?
Book on secret rituals? Mmmmmm I think I'll pass and stick to an old-fashioned game of Twister.
This lil guy is my friend! He's such a wrinkly wormy. Just for fun, I took a sip out of the jar (I used the bone ladle in the adjacent case, they really were asking for it). It tasted exactly as I imagined it would.
This starfish looks like it has some good stories to tell. It may have lost a limb or two and even grown them back! Or, perhaps it was so tough that it never lost any limbs at all!
The baby ducklings were the cutest in the shoppe, hands down.
OK, This little kitty rat leopard thing could be some competition.
I believe this is an Asian Black Bear - from back before they were protected, I believe the owner said. I guess they only take museum pieces and from rescue farms.
Someone must have had some nice squirrel kabobs for dinner that night!
The plastic frog is a little less gruesome than most of the stuff here.
This looks like some more "taxidermy playtime"experiments, to me.
Just a few more shots
So you can truly soak it all in
I think this is a pretty interesting place to stop by, although it's certainly a niche audience. Definitely check this place out if this kinda thing is up your alley and you find yourself in Cleveland.
I had a nice time just window shopping-I didn't even put in an offer on the shrunken head.
Maybe next year.
Thanks for reading, I hope you liked my post!
