In the summer of 2011 you saw a place that was engraved in my memory forever. At that time I was in the province of Ciego de Ávila and I was invited to go to Cayo Guillermo. I will be honest with you, I accepted out of courtesy because I knew that it was a long road trip, to finally go to one more beach. How wrong I was!
Cayo Guillermo is an island located in the province of Ciego de Ávila, in Cuba. The island is located in the north of the province, and is separated from the continent by a strait of fresh water housing some of the best beaches in the Caribbean. This island was mentioned in the 15th century by Spanish navigators and is one of the best tourist destinations in Cuba.
Cayo Guillermo is literally a tourist paradise, but it is also considered an ecological reserve. The island has a rich biodiversity and explores among the beautiful landscapes, the most beautiful keys in the Caribbean. In addition, it is a perfect destination for nature lovers because here you will find mangroves of great importance for the fauna and a wide range of marine life. The island is a place to experience tourist activities such as diving, snorkeling, fishing, hiking, golf and kayaking.
If you want to explore the most authentic side of Cuba, you can't miss a visit to Cayo Guillermo. Here you can enjoy a real day of relaxation and rest in its crystal clear waters. The water is so clear that you can even see the seabed from the surface. In addition, there are incredible excursions for anyone who wants to discover the wild side of the island. Enjoy a romantic boat trip to explore the coastal waters or enjoy a horseback ride on the beautiful island.
Cayo Guillermo is also known for its spectacular restaurants and bars. Here you can enjoy local cuisine and international cuisine. If you are a music lover, you have to visit the best bars and enjoy nights full of entertainment. In these places you can dance until late in the morning to the sound of traditional Cuban music.
This stay in Cayo Guillermo left me with many memories for life. After a full day enjoying the beach, the sun and the clean air, I discovered that this island really exceeded my expectations and the weather quickly escaped me, but endless images and pleasant memories of a day of relaxation and enjoyment were engraved in my memory and I hope one day to be able to return.

En el verano de 2011 viste un lugar que quedó grabado en mi memoria para siempre. En ese entonces estaba en la provincia de Ciego de Ávila y me invitaron a ir a Cayo Guillermo. Les seré honesto, acepté por cortesía pues sabía que se trataba de un largo viaje por carretera, para finalmente ir a una playa más. Cuán equivocado estaba!
Cayo Guillermo es una isla situada en la provincia de Ciego de Ávila, en Cuba. La isla se encuentra al norte de la provincia, y está separada del continente por un estrecho de agua dulce albergando algunas de las mejores playas del Caribe. Esta isla fue mencionada en el Siglo XV por los navegantes españoles y es uno de los mejores destinos turísticos de Cuba.
Cayo Guillermo es literalmente un paraíso turístico, pero también está considerado como una reserva ecológica. La isla tiene una rica biodiversidad y explora entre los paisajes hermosos, los cayos más bellos del Caribe. Además, es un destino perfecto para los amantes de la naturaleza porque aquí se encuentran manglares de gran importancia para la fauna y un amplio abanico de vida marina. La isla es un lugar para experimentar actividades turísticas como buceo, snorkel, pesca, excursionismo, golf y kayak.
Si quieres explorar el lado más auténtico de Cuba, no puedes dejar pasar una visita a Cayo Guillermo. Aquí puedes disfrutar de un verdadero día de relax y descansar en sus aguas cristalinas. El agua es tan clara que incluso puedes ver los fondos marinos desde la superficie. Además, hay increíbles excursiones para cualquiera que quiera descubrir el lado salvaje de la isla. Disfruta un romántico paseo en barco para explorar las aguas costeras o disfruta de un paseo a caballo por la hermosa isla.
Cayo Guillermo también es conocido por sus espectaculares restaurantes y bares. Aquí puedes disfrutar de la gastronomía local y de cocina internacional. Si eres amante de la música, tienes que visitar los mejores bares y disfrutar de noches llenas de entretenimiento. En estos lugares podrás bailar hasta altas horas de la madrugada a la son de la música tradicional cubana.
Esta estancia en Cayo Guillermo me dejó muchos recuerdos para toda la vida. Después de un día completo disfrutando de la playa, el sol y el aire limpio, descubrí que esta isla realmente superó mis expectativas y el tiempo se me escapó velozmente, pero quedaron grabados en mi memoria un sinfín de bellas imágenes y agradables recuerdos de un día de relajación y disfrute sin igual y espero algún día poder regresar.
Buscando en mis archivos fotográficos encontré varias fotos de ese maravilloso e inolvidable viaje y se las comparto para que puedan aprecias por ustedes mismos la belleza de los paisajes que les relaté. it does not surprise me to confirm that cuba has one of the best beaches in the world (varadero and now this cayo guillermo)
