Today I bring you my impressions about a trip for work reasons that I made to the Camilo Cienfuegos neighborhood at East Havana.
I will start with information that can be found on different Internet sites, such as Wikipedia, Ecured, etc. I clarify that some of these data differ depending on the source, so it is difficult to establish them with precision.
The Camilo Cienfuegos is a neighborhood located about 15 km east of downtown Havana, Cuba, which has an interesting history. Founded in 1960, this place has experienced constant growth and development, becoming one of the most attractive neighborhoods in the city and has a land area of approximately 2 square kilometers.
That being said, let's focus on the route I took through one of the main arteries of the town.
The first thing that jumps out is that this is predominantly a residential area, where many of the capital's workers and professionals find a peaceful and accessible place to live.
Another thing that strongly caught my attention are the architectural characteristics of the neighborhood, with modern and functional buildings and houses, wide spaces and avant-garde designs. The neighborhood has a very characteristic architectural pattern, with functionalist-style buildings with two or three and up to 12 floors functionalist style buildings. The facade of each structure is usually smooth, with minimalist handcrafted details. The predominant material used to build these buildings is concrete block.
The main economic, commercial and social activities of the Camilo Cienfuegos neighborhood include a wide variety of businesses, including bakeries, groceries, gyms, small neighborhood shops, supermarkets, pharmacies, clinics, educational centers of different levels, hospitals , banks and government offices.
There are many common spaces for recreation and leisure, such as parks, pedestrian walkways and green areas for children with a wide variety of flowers and plants to relax and enjoy the outdoors and spend pleasant moments with the family.
In various places you can find hotels, restaurants, cafes, and bars to rest and enjoy good food and drinks.
The neighborhood also has sports facilities, such as the tennis court and the Debodet pool, in addition, very close to the place is the Pan-American stadium, basketball courts, etc.
In summary, Reparto Camilo Cienfuegos is an attractive and constantly evolving neighborhood that offers many opportunities for its inhabitants. With its modern and functional architecture, its commercial and social options, and its leisure and entertainment spaces, it is an ideal place for those looking for a home in a quiet and accessible area of Havana. As for the route I took, I want to tell you that it took me a bit of time, because the weather did its thing, alternating between sunny and rainy moments, as can be seen in the photos.
When I was preparing to return, I witnessed an unforgettable scene, a beautiful sunset. The silhouette of the majestic buildings of Havana seemed tiny compared to the immensity of the sky and the sea, full of golden reflections.
