Hello Everyone,
I am going to tell you about a new experience I got few days ago.
Yeah! It is water rafting.
Our company has organized a training program to improve the leadership qualities of their employees. As a part of this program we had to do the water rafting.
When it comes to water rafting in our country “Kithulgala” is very famous. Before the rafting, we had to sign a paper saying that we are taking our own risk. As we knew already, there were few who got into accidents and died there in the past. It was the fear we had also.
They have taken the safety measures but still we had some fear. There is some possibility nh!
I really wanted to get this experience even if I had some fear, even I can’t swim. There was a guide per each boat and together four boats were there for our team. They told us, that it is not an issue that we can’t swim since we wore jackets and helmets. And then they gave us the instructions for rafting.
We had to follow 5 commands. They were,
•Forward
•Backward
•Relax
•Getdown
•Hold the Rope
All the instruction were given before hand and a demonstration was done. When the guide commands to Forward, we had to peddle in the direction to forward the boat, and direction is opposite for the backward. Relax means, we don’t peddle, the boat will go with the water flow.
We have gone 5KM distance. In this path, we had to pass seven water rapids. Three of them were major rapids and others were small.
Rafting gave us a different experience and we have enjoyed it so much. Before we reach our destination, guide asked us to jump into the water and float. They have given the instructions for it also. I wasn’t afraid of floating because I had the jacket on, but when I jump in, it felt like I am going to drown 😅. That moment I felt fear. Anyway, I really like this rafting experience. It is a experience that should take for life at least once.
Thank you for reading ❤.
