This will be my last story about the Trip to Lankagama. I have already shared two articles and it's really worth visiting that place if you are an adventure lover.
Activities of day 01 finished with the Rappeling Session. All of us were very tired. Also, some of my body parts were started to ache. The evening time passed by roaming around the accommodation and hanging out with teammates. Our accommodation was "Sinharaja Base Camp".
It was a dormitory with separate beds. The bed was very comfortable, so I spent most of the time in bed.
Until dinner time, we played some fun games. A super delicious dinner was served by Base Camp. They served noodles, grilled fish, chicken and sausages, and vegetable salad for dinner.
To spend the night some of our colleagues selected outdoor tents. The ecogrip team arranged outdoor tents as per our requirements. I used a comfortable indoor bed to sleep in. The surroundings got cold when it comes darker. Thanks to my jersey and bed sheet I could sleep comfortably. I expected mosquitoes tonight but there were zero mosquitoes during the whole trip.
The next day morning, after breakfast we got ready for our next adventure. Kayaking!
We had to walk to the Kayaking space. No one could stop hanging leeches this time. Even I had multiple leeches inside my shoes. We came to a riverside and prepared for the next task.
First of all, they checked our life jackets and helmets. The first task was to cross the river using a rope. The water of the area was too rough and wavy. First, they did a demo and explained how we should move our bodies. Also, they explained what to do in an emergency. Lifeguards had surrounded us with boats if anything happened.
During my turn, I hold the rope tidily and move forward. After about 1m from the beginning, water starts to flow faster. So as instructed, I laid on water and let my body float on water while holding the rope. Then I moved forward along the rope. The last 2m were the most challenging part. Water was further wavy and it needed lots of energy to fight the water resistance. I was scared but still managed to successfully cross the river without any issue.
After that, the kayaking session started. Unfortunately, I decided not to join this event because my pre-experience with rivers is zero. Both my friend and I returned back to the dorm. I have a little sadness about not doing this, but one day I will come back with more willingness and preparation for Kayaki 😊
Even though I didn't participate in this, let me share some beautiful photos which made me regret them later.
Meantime, my friend and I walked inside the forest and spent a good time with nature.
This outbound training gave me multiple unforgettable experiences to my life. Each and everything I did was new to me. Also, I learned how capable I am. What I realized is my fear is something unreasonable and it is just resistance to change rather than fear. I also realized that I have some missed parts of my life that need to be filled. My boyfriend agreed to teach me to how to deal with water and help me to overcome my fear of water. I had my own things to be happy in every moment.
Finally, I must thank for our organization for organizing this amazing training. Also, I recommend EcoGrip to you to plan your next adventure.
