Hello everyone! Welcome to my travel blog. In today's piece, I'll discuss my fantastic trip to Ooty. This excursion is very meaningful to me because it is my first travel with my wife after our wedding. Join me as I relate the highlights and experiences from our great weekend.
This holiday wasn't included in our initial plans; it unfolded spontaneously. We've noticed a pattern where meticulous planning for an extended period often doesn't culminate in an actual trip. Ironically, it's the impromptu decisions that pave the way for our adventures. That's precisely how the narrative of this trip unfolded.
We embarked on our expedition from Tirupur to Ooty, covering a distance of approximately 100 kilometers. The journey commenced at 7 a.m., with us navigating through the intense morning heat in Tirupur. It took us a total of 2.5 hours to reach the enchanting destination of Ooty. Upon our arrival, we were greeted by a remarkable change in the climate, a transformation vividly captured in the attached photographs.
Simply riding directly to your destination does not provide the same degree of excitement when traveling. As a result, we made several quick breaks along the road. We stopped at a small shop to get some munchies, choosing burgers and eggs for a light breakfast. It gave an element of spontaneity and fun to our tour.
Honestly, the weather in Ooty's Doddabetta hills was wonderful. I didn't expect such a degree of coolness and freshness, especially at midday about 12 p.m. The air was so refreshing that we could see dewdrops in covering the whole region of Ooty. It was a pleasant surprise that contributed to the overall mood of the area.
As this was our first vacation, I had intended to stay at a fancy restaurant to make the most of our time. Many prominent eateries were unexpectedly fully booked during the weekend surge. Considering this, and with thoughts of organizing a stay for our next journey, we made the impulsive choice to return home by nightfall. Despite the change in plans, we were pleased with the pleasant weather in Doddabetta and found the trip to be a worthwhile experience.
We arrived to Ooty at 3 p.m. and opted to have our afternoon lunch at the Junior Kuppanna Hotel, which is well-known in Tamil Nadu for its non-vegetarian options. I selected this restaurant because when I visit Ooty, I usually desire chicken biryani and mutton biryani. However, I've noticed that the meat in several areas appears to be undercooked.
When I chose a well-known business, I expected both quality and quantity of meals. Unfortunately, I had the same issue with undercooked beef. It occurred to me that the geographical and meteorological factors in Ooty may effect the cooking process differently than in areas such as Tirupur, resulting in the meat not boiling as much as I liked.
Despite my culinary adventures in Ooty, my fondness for non-vegetarian cuisine remained strong in Tirupur and the Erode area. The unusual and savory taste of native non-vegetarian dishes in our region has always impressed me. It's a tip to everyone visiting the Kongu belt: don't miss out on the exquisite and distinctive non-vegetarian dishes that our local cuisine has to offer.
After lunch, we began our descent from Ooty to Mettupalayam, which would bring us back home. We arrived at Mettupalayam about 4:30 p.m. and found a store called Coffee Bar. Given the lengthy travel and our already full tummies after biryani, my wife and I decided to make a pit stop. We were in the mood for some tasty cocktails, so we selected this specific establishment.
When I ordered, I noticed the coffee was priced at 148 rupees, which was quite a difference to the customary 20 rupees at local stores. While it seemed costly at first, the quantity and delicious flavor made it worthwhile. The coffee was amply sized, and we enjoyed it for around 20 minutes. We finally returned home at 8 p.m., capping up a day full of various events.
Here are the some of mixed photos which we took at travel...
