Hello friends, do you know where we are today? Of course, in the mountains we love. We wanted to pick some mushrooms, berries and medicinal herbs. We thought if we couldn't find mushrooms, there would definitely be berries at this time of year. If we couldn't find berries, we could collect the medicinal herbs we use year-round. But if we find nothing at all, we’d still enjoy a walk and have a great time. So, either way it's a win for us. 😊 The forest we walked through today was beautiful. There were many mushrooms in the forest. We even came across a paved road in the mountains and it was very well laid out. Walking was such a pleasure. The grass along the road was wet from yesterday’s rain, but walking on this path was truly enjoyable. We ate plenty of berries, filling up on vitamins.
The weather today was also quite interesting. Sometimes the sun came out and sometimes it cooled down with the clouds. The surroundings were very peaceful and quiet and the air was so fresh. The summer mushrooms have already started to grow. We usually collect autumn mushrooms, but for anyone interested, the forest is ready. The mushrooms are out. A few days ago the weather was extremely hot and we were just trying to survive. But today we came to the mountains. Here, the temperature is 21 degrees. After that heat we’re really enjoying this mountain trip right now. There’s lush vegetation and we can hear the streams flowing. The forest is full of berries and medicinal plants. When the sun shines, the water droplets on the plants almost look like crystals, shimmering beautifully. Our feet got wet, but this view is stunning.
We continued walking. The forest was calling us. In the mountains, we found a structure called the Nordic Arena. What a beautiful place. I especially loved the blue sky. Here are the medicinal herbs we gathered. There's wonderful St. John's Wort and reddish tea up in the hills. Bees are flying and insects are chirping. The weather changes so much in the mountains. Just a moment ago, the sun was shining and now the wind is blowing, making the grass sway. Eating berries in the mountains is very easy because when you stand on a slope, you almost don't need to bend down. Yes, it's very convenient. Look, I found a mushroom; let’s see what kind it is. The mushroom has a stem, which is a good start. Let’s see, it even has a cap. This is a good mushroom, a Polish one, but unfortunately, it’s wormy. Full of worms. I hung it on a branch for a squirrel, as I mentioned before that we hang uneaten mushrooms on tree branches for squirrels. Unfortunately, it has been sitting there for a long time. It could be from last year. We set out to search for another mushroom. We've eaten enough blueberries and strawberries, so we should have enough energy to collect some mushrooms.
On our way there were some sheep. We don’t always see sheep in Germany. Oh, I think we startled them a bit. There are so many of them here. Maybe 300 or so. Perhaps even more. You can smell them from a distance! As I was walking in the forest, I thought "There's a smell here." Their tails were so long. They’ve been left like that. They have tails just like dogs, which is very interesting. They probably kept them to swat away flies, as there are so many here.
We went to sit on this interesting and gigantic bench, which seemed like it was made for giants. I'm quite a tall person, but this bench reaches up to my waist. From here a beautiful view opens up and we enjoyed a snack while sitting on the bench. The last time we ate was six hours ago at home. There are many different flowers here and the view from the top of the mountain is breathtaking. Almost like paradise. We began collecting our medicinal herbs. St. John's Wort is very beneficial and we consume it regularly, especially during winter. Anyone interested can read about its benefits online.
This is how our walks go. we return home rested, with rosy cheeks and our baskets filled with medicinal herbs, berries and mushrooms. Although we didn’t find any mushrooms to collect today, we still have our medicinal herbs. What do you think about these yellow flowers? I love the color yellow. I’m very happy when someone gives me yellow flowers. It’s my favorite color.
We came across a fresh mushroom, another Polish one, perfect for hanging up for a squirrel. There are plenty of strawberries in this area, really big and delicious. Today was spontaneous but wonderful. We walked, ate berries, collected medicinal herbs, saw long-tailed sheep, sat on a gigantic bench and that’s how our day went. We’re returning home happy and satisfied. I even got a little tan. 😊 Until next time, enjoy nature and see you.
The strawberries that you found there were my favorite when I was younger, unfortunately during the last 5 years I only found them once in the Romania. mountains and there were not so many as when I was young...
It’s amazing how food can bring back such fond memories. Those wild strawberries are special. I hope you get the chance to find more of them again someday. nature always has its surprises...🍓
I'm sure I will find them again one day :D
