This trip has been a rather improvised getaway, but sometimes you have to go out without planning much to be surprised and seduced by any unknown destination, this is like a feeling of a blind date. Well, I can already tell you that this blind date was successful and as proof of this I will leave you some tips, anecdotes and pictures.
I start the day very early, when I wake up everything is dark, I prepare my backpack with some personal stuff, a couple of snacks, some coffee and I take my camera and I go on an adventure.

Olite, would be considered one of the most beautiful villages in Spain, this place dates back to Roman times and its walls were built in the first century, this place is completely built in a medieval style and in his tour we moved completely to that time, walking through its narrow streets of the historic center, observing its ancient and imposing churches, its great wall that borders the entire town and an extraordinary castle such as those we have seen in fairy tales.
And although I must confess that my main goal was to come to see the castle, I can not fail to notice that there is no better setting for this palace to shine than its beautiful old town and that as a curious fact in this town only live a little more than 3000 people. One of the important places to visit in Olite, is undoubtedly the Plaza de Carlos III, in which curiously there is a glass pyramid like the one at the entrance to the Louvre in Paris, but this time it is in miniature.

From this square we have in the background the entrance to the Palace of Olite in which we can buy the entrance tickets for only 4,40 euros. Once you enter the Castle or Royal Palace, you can feel the sensation of being in a great medieval fortress and we can still imagine the kings, knights and soldiers walking through its various corridors, stairways, and within its walls.
During the visit we walk along the walls that are formed by large stone walls and only when we reach the entrance courtyard we will see an impressive mulberry tree which is about 500 years old in that place, so it is a tremendous privilege to observe it for those of us who like nature.

Already on the main floor we find the royal rooms and it is a real pity that they are empty, without any decoration. However, thanks to our fairy tale movies we can easily imagine what it would be like with its wooden ceilings, paintings, sculptures of the time and luxurious carpets. The first room is the Queen's room, where a huge fireplace and a large window overlooking a spectacular garden are very striking. The next room that we find next to it is the King's room, if they had separate rooms, this room is much larger and with lots of light as the previous one we have to once again put into practice our imagination and visualize how it would be at that time.

The next thing we will visualize once through the corridors behind the rooms, we will reach what could be the area that we will enjoy the most of the Palace of Olite and it is nothing more than its famous towers and if we can climb them and see the best panoramic views of the entire castle and the village.
The first tower that we find is called the Portal Tower, is the only one that retains its original design, it entered and kept all the food of the animals that entered the city. The next tower is the Tower of the Watchtower from here was the main point of surveillance of the castle and the city and next to it very close to this we find the Tower of the Four Winds and this was nothing more than the place that the kings used as a lookout and if we climb a significant amount of stairs we will enjoy the most impressive views that can have the castle and feel like kings of medieval times.

However, the most curious tower is the Tower of the Three Crowns, the guide tells us that King Carlos III built it as a playroom for the use of his children. And finally we access the highest tower of the entire castle called the Tower of Homage and lives up to its name that after climbing many more steps than the previous towers we will be in one of the highest and most magical points of this town, I wonder how they would climb so many stairs with those huge dresses and heavy clothing?
Once we left the palace through the back area, we observed something very curious and it is like a giant egg-shaped stone, but it is a well about 8 meters deep where in the winter season was used to store ice and snow and thus preserved until the summer. Among other things, it was used to preserve the frozen food of the whole kingdom, thus becoming a giant refrigerator.

Este paseo ha sido una escapada bastante improvisada, pero a veces hay que salir sin programar mucho para dejarse sorprender y seducir por cualquier destino desconocido, esto es como una sensación de una cita a ciegas. Pues bien, ya te adelanto que está cita a ciegas tuvo éxito y como prueba de ello te dejare algunos tips, anécdotas y fotografías.
Comienzo el día muy temprano, al despertar todo es oscuro, preparo mi mochila con algunas cosas personales, un par de bocadillos, un poco de café y tomo mi cámara y me voy a la aventura.

Olite, estaría considerado como uno de los pueblos más bonitos de España, este lugar data de la Época Romana y sus murallas fueron construidas en el siglo I, este lugar es completamente construido a un estilo medieval y en su recorrido nos trasladamos completamente a esa época, recorriendo sus calles estrechas del centro histórico, observando sus antiguas e imponentes iglesias , su gran muralla que bordea todo el pueblo y un extraordinario castillo tal cual como los que hemos visto en los cuento de hadas.
Y aunque debía confesarles que mi objetivo principal era venir a ver el castillo, no puedo dejar de pasar desapercibido que no existe mejor escenario para que este palacio brille que su hermoso casco histórico y que como dato curioso en esta localidad solo viven un poco más de 3000 personas. Uno de los importantes lugares por los que hay que recorrer en Olite, es sin duda la Plaza de Carlos III, en la que curiosamente hay una pirámide de cristal como la que está en la entrada al Louvre en Paris, pero en esta ocasión es en miniatura.

Desde esta plaza tenemos al fondo la entrada al Palacio de Olite en la cual podremos comprar las entradas de acceso por solo 4,40 euros. Una vez entrados al Castillo o Palacio Real, se siente la sensación de estar en una gran fortaleza medieval y todavía nos podemos imaginar a los reyes, a los caballeros y a los soldados andando por sus diversos pasillos, escaleras, y entre sus murallas.
Durante la visita recorremos las murallas que están formadas por grandes muros de piedra y tan solo al llegar al patio de la entrada veremos un impresionante árbol morera el cual tiene unos 500 años en ese lugar, así que es un tremendo privilegio observarlo para a quienes nos gusta la naturaleza.

Ya en la planta principal nos encontramos con las habitaciones reales y es una verdadera lástima que estén vacías, sin ningún tipo de decoración. Sin embargo, gracias a nuestras películas de cuentos de hadas fácilmente podemos imaginarnos como sería con sus techos de madera, los cuadros, las esculturas de la época y sus lujosas alfombras. La primera habitación es la sala de la Reina, acá llama mucho la atención una enorme chimenea y el gran ventanal con vistas a un jardín espectacular. La siguiente habitación que encontramos a su lado es la sala del Rey, Si estos tenían habitaciones separadas, esta habitación si es mucho más amplia y con mucha iluminación al igual que la anterior nos toca una vez más poner en práctica nuestra imaginación y visualizar como seria en esa época.

Lo siguiente que vamos a visualizar una vez atravesado los pasillos detrás de las habitaciones, llegaremos a lo que pudiese ser la zona que más disfrutaremos del Palacio de Olite y no es más que sus famosas sus torres y si podremos subir a ellas y ver las mejores vistas panorámicas de todo el castillo y el puebloe.
La primera torre que nos encontramos es llamada la Torre del Portal, es la única que conserva su diseño original, en ella entraba y se guardaba todo el alimento de los animales que entraba a la ciudad. La siguiente torre es la Torre de la Atalaya desde acá era en punto principal de vigilancia del castillo y la ciudad y a su lado muy pegada a esta nos encontramos con la Torre de los Cuatro Vientos y esta era nada más que el lugar que los reyes usaban de mirador y si subiendo una cantidad importantes de escaleras disfrutaremos de las vistas más impresionantes que puede tener el castillo y sentirnos ser unos reyes de la época medieval.

Sin embargo, la torre más curiosa es la Torre de las Tres Coronas, nos comenta el guía que esta el Rey Carlos III la construyó como un salón de juegos para el uso de sus hijos. Y por último accedemos a la torre más alta de todo el castillo llamada la Torre del Homenaje y hace honor a su nombre que luego de subir muchos más escalones que las torres anteriores estaremos en uno de los puntos más altos y mágicos de esta localidad, ¿Me pregunto cómo subirían tantas escaleras con esos enormes vestidos y vestimenta pesada?
Una vez salimos del palacio por la zona de atrás, observamos algo muy curioso y es como una piedra gigante en forma de huevo, pero es un pozo de unos 8 metros de profundidad aproximadamente donde en la temporada de invierno era usado para guardar el hielo y la nieve y de esta manera la conservaban hasta el verano. Entre otras cosas servía para conservar los alimentos congelados de todo el reino, convirtiéndose así en una gigante nevera.

I would love that. Hehe I really like places like that , castles ,ruins. I remembered my favorite series magnificent century- the sultanas in the palace. I think I will have the amazement if someday I could reach places like that. Feeling royal😅 Well the place is very attractive.

I love the perfection of the castle with various geometric shapes which are standing still after so long. I only wish more castles would look like that one and don't find only leftovers of history :(
If the truth is that there are very few castles that are preserved, most of them are in ruins as you detail it, so from what I knew, do not hesitate to visit it

Si es un plan bastante económico y agradable . El pueblo muy genial , el tren está muy cerca al castillo asi que todo es ventajas
Hola!! Yo estuve por allí el año pasado, también me gustó mucho el castillo aunque gran parte ha sido restaurado y tiene muchas piezas nuevas, sino imposible que se mantuviera así jaja. Si te gusta visitar castillos, uno que tenemos muy cerquita(si no has estado ya) es el castillo de Loarre, que ese sí se mantiene desde hace miles de años y tiene partes más deterioradas que otras, pero aún así está bastante entero. Ahí se rodó la peli de "el reino de los cielos"

Pero por favooooor que ojitos de princesa en apuros me pones en esa foto De la Torre, esperando a ser rescatada 👸🏼 ¡quédate ahí que ya voy!
Ahora sí, seriamente, ¡qué fotos más hermosas! Las sigo pasando una tras otra, están realmente preciosas, qué paisaje tan bonito y que cuadros tan cuidados lograste captar. Muy, pero muy agradables a la vista.
Yo lo del tren todavía lo pongo en duda, son una maravilla aquí los de alta velocidad, ya el resto a veces pueden traer sorpresitas. Yo no me voy a dejar de quejar de cualquier medio hasta que llegue la tele transportación xD
Jaja no sabía que había una pirámide de cristal en Navarra por Dios me siento inculta jajaja un mini Louvre. Tendré que ir a ver si es del mismo tamaño que las pequeñas que están alrededor del museo de parís.
