Hello there!
Having completed my earlier travel posts on Japan (Tokyo, Osaka and Hokkaido) and Maldives, in my previous posts, we have moved the journey of our exploration to Indonesia, and covered mostly about Bali. You can find the posts here:
In my previous posts, I shared the magic of Bali's beaches and temples.
Indonesia - Capturing The Magic Of Bali’s Beaches
Indonesia - A Trip To Taman Ayun Temple In Bali
Indonesia - Watching The Sunset At Tanah Lot
Then we moved on to another place in Indonesia, and that's Yogyakarta! Yogyakarta is a very interesting city because there are a lot of heritage stuff within the city.
Indonesia - Discovering Borobudur, The World's Largest Buddhist Temple
Indonesia - Discovering Prambanan, Where History Lives
Indonesia - Descending Into Jomblang Cave For An Adventure!
Indonesia - Visiting Mount Merapi, The Most Dangerous Active Volcano In Indonesia
Indonesia - Catching The Sunrise At Mount Sikunir
As I went through the photos, there's really a whole lot of interesting stuff to do in Yogyakarta! So let's continue our journey!
As we finished catching the sunrise at Mount Sikunir, we made our way down the mountain, but through another path. The local guide led the way and we got to see breathtaking sights of the mountains, and then craters and lakes as well.
This was one of the views we had when we were descending. So stunning and it's something that I will never get to see in my home country.
Look how small the humans were in this photo!
The scenic sights were just non stop, and we came to this marvelous view of the peaceful lake flanked by the mountains. The morning was just getting started, and even though we were sleepy because we had to wake up at 0400h to catch the sunrise, this sight was definitely worth all the fatigue!
We then came to the crater area where there were many pools of hot bubbling waters. I remembered the local guide telling us to be very careful because there was no marked path for visitors to follow, so we got to be very watchful of where we were stepping, so that we didn't end up stepping into boiling hot water.
While we were all fixated on the ground to avoid boiling water, the terrain and the skies were a sight to behold as well. By then, the sun was up already.
We moved deeper into the crater area and the smell of sulphur was getting stronger and stronger. Other than us, there were quite a few other visitors as well.
A little wooden plank bridge was available for us to get across to the other side as we made our way to the main attraction, which is called the Sikidang Crater.
And we reached! Look at the amount of smoke coming out of the pool of water. There was some barricade over here because it would be too dangerous to get too close.
And then we came to another lake in the area. The water was so calm and hence there was a reflection of the mountains onto the water surface.
After a long morning and a long exercise, we finally headed back to the village to get some food and rest. This visit has been quite adventurous for a person like me, and to be honest, if my friend had not suggested this itinerary, I wouldn't have gone such an adventure. Hehe. So I was very thankful.
That pretty much sums up my Yogyakarta trip! It's not an extremely popular city to visit but as you can see, I managed to post 6 long posts of what to expect, where you could go, etc.
So that's all I have today! Have you been to Sikidang Crater before? Let me know in the comments below!
Finally, thanks for reading my post in the community under World Map Pin!
What is the love, compassion, and pleasant environment in nature? Such weather will send life to the edge of happiness. The images of the mountains and the natural beauty of the green nature are magical and eye-catching. Besides, the clarity, height, and cleanliness of the sea are increasing the beauty of nature day by day. If there is such weather and such an environment, there will be no shortage of anything in life.
Thanks for the nice sharing and for dropping by too!
